Out on wheeler this morning with the old man. He's got the recurve in hand so hoping he gets a shot more than myself. Lots of deer in here. Hunting a big bedding area. Happy hunting fellas.

I scared some off coming in. Hope they come back

Hunting Black Warrior this morning. I’m in a very thick 7 yr. old pine bedding area with 1 huge White Oak and one skinny Red Oak they left standing. I climbed the Red Oak with a twenty yard shot to the White Oak. Very limited shooting with the furthest shot being 22 yards on some good trails. Wind is swirling right now, but most is going up, up and away. I haven’t been out here in two weeks, but going by the calendar the young bucks should be chasing. Good luck y’all.

Well they came back. 4 does, the biggest was looking up in trees the entire time and being real spooky, so I eased her anxiety

Arrow is completely covered in blood, I felt great about the shot, zero blood trail. Help?

Give her a couple of hours and then start looking for blood. Don't rush it. She'll lay down and die if you give her time.

If the arrow is covered in blood, she is going to bleed just slow down and find the blood. What kind of broadhead?

Just got snorted at. Sounded very big as it was bouncing around down there about 100 yards. I must stink!

Found her. Blood trail picked up right where I had stopped looking.

There not going to bleed much with the Montecs unless you use there expandable heads. Congrats on another bow kill. You are on your way to being a veteran hunter.

Just shot my first deer with a bow. Here's hoping she's dead. Arrow was a pass through. Still in the tree right now. More nervous than when I killed a 10 pointer.

Don’t worry perch, I gave her some time and was on my way back to the truck to give her more time and saw tons of blood. Looked a little further and saw her belly.

Took a big mature doe this morning. Had 11 come out on me!

Yep too high. These deer were using this area of firebreak and there’s a bald tree with no limbs except at the top. I had a thirty foot bow rope and had my bow picked off the ground. Needless to say I didn’t get picked off. But I realize it was entirely to high to make a good shot. There wasn’t enough body showing when they were close. Maybe a little further off but I get these areas and once I see what trails they using more I get into the woods and about 20 ish or wherever cover is. We hunted there a few days ago and buddy walked around corner seen the tree and said your an idiot. I said I know. This is a doe we call flop though. Her ear is folded back bout third way down. She always has twins and usually blows a million times but not that day.

Finally back in a tree with my bow. Can't seem to pick up my riffle yet. Been tryin to get my son his first deer but it's my turn this pm.
