My stomach has been jacked up, off and on, for the past few weeks. Some days are better than others, but I just generally haven't felt well. All blood work and labs have been normal.

My wife had an attack 3-4 years ago, with severe pain, that ended up being her gallbladder and required removal. Even though I don't have classic "pain" type symptoms, Dr thinks mine is gallbladder related. Ultrasound showed some sludge and thickening of gallbladder walls, but no large stones. I have a HIDA scan scheduled for next week and then possible surgery if it's determined that's the culprit.

Anyone else who's had gallbladder issues have similar symptoms without the classic pain?

The HIDA will tell the tale. I had discomfort, low grade ache, etc., and suspected that's what it was. Talked to my sawbones, he ran a HIDA, and my gallbladder was functioning at 7%...out it came, and I haven't missed it! My oldest son lost his at 2 years old, my youngest son at 10 years old, and my Dad at 73 years old...apparently my genetic line isn't meant to have gallbladders! My daughter still has hers, but she lost her appendix at 9, it was full of stones like a gallbladder would be... The docs say we should change our family name to "Stonemaker".

I was sick for a year.Started out every once in a while just waking up and feeling bad with no appetite.Got to where it was everyday.Ended up doing the HIDA scan and it was my gallbladder.Thats been 10 years ago and I haven't had any problems since.I never had the classic pains or anything it was just feeling sick at my stomach all the time.Sounds like you're doing the same thing I done.

I had the pain and attacks that would put me in the fetal position for 12 hours at a time however the wife didn't have the pain and fever just the discomfort and not feeling well. We have both had ours removed. My hida scan and ultrasound only showed some sludge my Dr. told me whenever I got tired of the symptoms to let him know and we would schedule surgery. I asked if we could do the surgery the next morning. After the surgery unless you are the exception to the rule you will change your eating habits and know where every clean bathroom is in the county.

The secret to a long marriage is to keep on dating, just as you did before marriage. We have "date night" once a week.
Hers is Saturday, mine is Thursday.

The only time a married woman gives those is if your not married to them!

VERY true! After the surgery, any time you eat, don't just get up and leave...give it 15 or 20 minutes, you'll be glad you did and save yourself some anxious or embarrassing moments!

I read all that before I had mine out and it didn't effect me that way one bit.

I had gallbladder attacks for a couple years. They'd last several hours and then be okay. They got longer lasting and the last 2 months that I had mine in, I was in constant pain and discomfort. I had no stones. I sure have been better off without mine. Surgery was a breeze. I had mine taken out on a Thursday so I could rest over a long weekend, but I ended up working half a day that Friday. I was good to go by Saturday night.

Yep lol. My wife had the surgery probably 13 years ago...

Had mine taken out this past June. You WILL limit the fat in your diet or you better carry a change of underwear everywhere you go.
Maybe I'm a wimp but there was no going back to work in a day or two. Perhaps if you don't lift anything heavier than a notebook then you will be fine in a day or two but my poor bellybutton was some kinda sore for a week!

I don't know if yours is gallbladder but I do know they are a really weird animal. My gallbladder was really bad off and the first time I experienced pain with it was behind my shoulder blade. The next several times was on my stomach side so the Dr in the ER thought it was h-pylori. I went to the ER because I was in pain bad enough I was throwing up. My wife kept requesting them to do an ultrasound but they just prescribed me antibiotics and a PPI for the h-pylori. After multiple trips to the ER and the Dr wanted another CT scan, she said "we are not doing another d### CT scan" and ran over to her office and ordered an ultrasound. In the ultrasound they found stones and rushed me into surgery to remove my gallbladder. There was over 100 stones ranging in size from a peppercorn to a large marble and I had infection leaking out already. Spent 5 days in the hospital taking antibiotics through an IV.

I'm sharing that because I'm thankful your dr is maybe on the right track. When my wife had her rotation in the ER in Huntsville, the Dr she worked with said the most missed easily fixed diagnosis is the gallbladder. It's mainly because of how it presents in different spots. He told her that if she ever had a patient complaining of sharp pain in their stomach, shoulder blades, etc to order an ultrasound to check for stones. If no stones are found, order a hida scan. That stuck with her and with the amount of infection that had already leaked out, she probably saved my life.

I started taking the fiber you mix with water and it helped me a lot. My experience was a little different though (and weird). I can go to Drake's in Huntsville some times and eat a greasy burger and fries and be fine. Other times, I can eat a turkey sandwich and an apple and barely make it to the bathroom. Regardless, taking the daily fiber has helped a lot.

Your new best friend is a roll of toilet paper carried every where with you. Like American Express don't leave home without it.

HIDA scan showed low function. Looks like they'll be ridding me of the gallbladder. Hopefully I'll feel human again soon. Being sick, every single day, for a month is no fun.

Hope that fixes you up. It sucks being under the weather and no relief for days on end.

I firmly believe that a double gallows should be constructed on the East Lawn of The White House. Politicians who willfully and shamelessly violate their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America should be swiftly tried and, upon conviction, publicly hanged at sunup the day after conviction. If multiple convicts are to be hanged they can choose with whom to share the gallows or names shall be drawn from the hangman's hat to be hanged 2 at a time.

I had a HIDA and it showed low function. I lost a bunch of weight and got back in shape. All symptoms went away. That was 9ish years ago. I can feel it every once in a blue moon if I’m on a fat bender. Good luck with surgery.

After reading this I gotta go to the bathroom now.
