I bought 10 pounds yesterday and they were awesome. Made Gumbo and also grilled some.
They are grown in ponds with the water from a drilled well that goes into the salt water aquifer.
They were really good, if you see them around, give them a try.

Thank God they had shrimp from the USA there too. The owner mentioned that he did not want to go into restaurants or grocery stores the first year. He wanted to make sure he could meet the demand and the shrimp were a good quality. He did not want to run into production problems and then have a "bad name" because he could not meet their needs. He is a good guy and the shrimp are great.

Thanks for the good word. We have worked hard raising these shrimp and are happy with the final product. You can stay updated on our Facebook page at www.sumtercountyshrimp.com. We are harvesting Sunday, October 29 and will have shrimp available at the farm 1 until dark. It is near Bellamy on Highway 80 and intersection with Bellamy 21. $30 for 5 pounds of extra jumbo shrimp. The first pond averaged 11 per pound.

My question is, what are these shrimp feeding on? I dont know that, I assume some type of fish feed. Is there a shrimp feed. I dont know about the particulars but Lee is a friend and the shrimp are awesome.

These would most likely be a species of white shrimps. (probably setiferus but maybe not) and not prawns. and yes they would feed them a pelleted feed specially formulated for shrimp instead of catfish. The hardest part is the first 30 days after they get hte PL's...finger crossing time.

I have had the ones that are grown around Port St. Joe in ponds. They are deveined and split down the back of the shell and flash frozen. My BIL sold them in Destin.
