I bought a couple of them a few years ago and honestly I could not see with them. The blood did not stand out like they stated that it would. I threw them in the trash.

I tried one too and it’s just not worth a damn in my opinion

You'd be better to put peroxide in a spray bottle.

I use a propane Lantern. I see the blood a lot better with that and I use peroxide when I'm not sure if it's blood.

I have one that I love, but no one else has it. A guy makes them and literally showed up at my door one day selling them. It has the ability to be one green light or red, or turn them both on and blood just pops out. It's the only light I use anymore for walking in/out and tracking. I do believe the hunting store in Opelika bought some from him and had them for sale. Blows Primos and the other lights out of the water.

Excuse my ignorance, but what makes a propane latern a good blood tracking light? Something to do with the color temperature that makes blood stand out or something?

I prefer good white light, whether that's a handheld spotlight or flashlight. I like a lantern for broad lighting, but it can blind you some. I prefer, if there's two of you for the one in the back to have the lantern and toilet paper for marking. He always stays at last blood until more is found then he moves up. This is uauslly me, my son bloodtrails like a dog.

I have learned to keep my handheld spotlight charged. Works great to have that super bright light. And a wider beam

Don't blame me for your bad decision-

I do not have a 'blood tracking light' but I do have a small flashlight which works very well for the purpose. I'm not sure who makes it but it is about 4-5 inches long and has a flood end with about 20 blue LEDs. Fresh blood really pops out and older dried is still easy to spot.

I believe it is the amount of light it puts out. I arrowed a doe 2 years ago. Zero blood. Searched for 30-40 mins an called a friend and he brought a lantern. We shined for another 30 min. Found a small drop on a rock that I believe we would have never seen with a flashlight (totally dark now). For 30-40 yards we found maybe 10 drops of blood then a puddle. 5 more yards in front of that puddle she was down. It was a poor shot and her guts plugged the hole.

I bought one of these years ago and it is the best tracking light I have ever seen. You just have be careful trailing through a sage field.

Just a thought, I use the Ryobi tools (18V) from Home Depot, they have all sort of accessories for these dang things. They have a SUPER bright spotlight/worklight. My son shot a doe a couple weeks ago, used the light. AMAZING and bright. Far better than any flashlight...if you have their tools, the light was only $40 or so, and just snap in the 18v battery.

Propane lantern is old school that works great. The bright, white LED's don't come close, especially with old eyes.
