6-8 slices bacon
3/4 cup butter
3/4 cup flour
1 small onion
6 medium to large potatoes skinned and diced
1 cup heavy cream
4 cups milk
4 cups chicken broth
2 cups cheddar cheese
1/2 cup sour cream
Salt, pepper, and garlic to taste

Brown bacon pieces in pot, remove bacon and add butter to grease, melt butter and add potatoes, seasonings, and onion, cook for a few minutes then add flour, stir until thick and add cream, milk and broth, bring to a boil and simmer until potatoes are done, add cheese and sour cream and stir until homogenous. Top with bacon bits/cheese/green onions/whatever you want.

UMMM...UMMM...GOOD!!! Thanks for sharing the recipe. I added some diced celery to my veggies, used a whole cup of butter because I used 8 large potatoes and I used a little more than half cup of sour cream but this stuff is F I N E!!! I also used yukon gold potatoes, so the color is a bit more golden.

I had tater soup for dinner last night. It was either chili or tater soup and this time tater soup won the vote.

We made this tonight and it is delicious. Thanks so much for the recipe. It will be a staple in our kitchen for many years. We got married in June and love cooking together and this new soup recipe is awesome!
