Need suggestions on .22 bolt action for squirrel hunting. Gonna use a Leupold 2x7-33 on top for optics. Need something that is compact, but not to short to shoot accurately.

Thanks

I've got a cheap savage but it shoots good w/iron sights. After walking through the NF I realize I need a scope so I've been checking some .22's that CZ offers

Do you recommend the rail or Leupold rings and bases to mount my 2-7x33? I guess rail comes off?
Thanks for info on the Ruger I’m seriously considering.

Marlin take your pic old or new tube fed or magazine fed iron sights or put some glass on it either way if you do your part you can shoot the nuts off a nat with them.

I just got a Ruger American bolt action 22 and it is a shooter. It has a real good trigger on it too. Great value and a good fit for my style of hunting.

I know you asked for bolt action suggestions but I wouldn’t overlook the Henry lever action. I have one with the octagon barrel and it is a tack driver. With good ammo it just stacks them right on top of each other. I’d put it up against anything. Tube fed and holds 15.

I’m still looking for a deal on Ruger American. Wanting a laminate stock. Saw a .17 in it and really like it and the Savage BV II. I’ll find one.

Marlin, or a Henry Lever. My son has a Henry Lever 22wmr and that thing is slick with a Leupold 2x7.

A little more expensive but my cz 455 is a sweet shooter. You can get the package and it comes with a .17hmr barrel too.

I've got a Remington 504 that is a squirrel noggin buster. Not cheap though.

I own all brand guns above except CZ! I bought a bolt action savage from Walmart for $136 a few years back that will shoot as good if not better than everything I own! The only thing I don't like is the trigger, but they make them with an accutrigger now! Do a little online research about accuracy and reviews of the model you are looking to buy and will hopefully save you from being disappointed later on! Lots of good 22's out there!

I've got an old Mossberg .22 bolt gun that was bought for me before I was born...most accurate rifle I've ever shot, unless you clean it, then you'd be hard-pressed to drop it and be able to hit the ground, until it's fouled again! Barrel looks like it's 5' long on it, too, but it'll hold 19 LR's in the tube!
