Posting a few old pics I found recently. If you have any old pictures of your own to add to please do so and give the best description you can. I love old black and whites and the story behind the pic.

Chilton county hunting party late 1800's. Notice all the tired hounds after a long days hunt.

Old Macedonia Schoolhouse, Chilton county, Al. Lots of bare feet on the front row. (Late 1800's -1900?)

WWII soldier poses with his rifle European theatre.

Two soldiers taking a break in front of a Tank somewhere in Europe.

Only thing I can think is a Latreen called "Chateau Dung" on the base in Membury
(Southern England). Notice the torpedoes or bombs hanging to the right. Looks like they have names on them. One looks like my grandfathers best I can make out.

Miners in Jefferson county, Al. G grandfather third from right. (1910's-20's)

Some kind of Miner Paramedic team. I'm sure there was a different name. G grandfather far right. Notice bandaged miner front center.

Orange Beach, Al fishing fleet 1940's. Can't give an exact location because there are no Condo's in the background for reference. My best guess is it's where boat launch is off Marina Drive. ( looking east towards the islands?) Man how things have changed.

Here's one i keep on my phone (not the best i took pic from my computer) This pic was nearly destroyed and had to be doctored notice the trees, horses/mule head, and his hand holding the gun was messed up also. This is my great great Grandpa James (James was his last name) supposedly some type of law enforcement, I'll call my grandmother tomorrow to get more info date and such....

Yes you do. Once they are gone they are GONE.
I'm trying to figure out how my grandfather has so many random pics of the European theatre. Some of the pics he is in but most he is not. Who took them and how he got them will always be a mystery I guess. Glad he did though.

Yeah i guess some things will remain a mystery. My grandmother has a ton of old stuff, they had to go about it the hard way, they couldn't use the web to find out info so they went to various cemeteries and states and such to vist different family members. She even has original papers from where the Roberts family purchased slaves in the Carolinas then settled in Mississippi. Also some documents that's written in French that she's never even had translated...

Cool pics from both of y'all!

I firmly believe that a double gallows should be constructed on the East Lawn of The White House. Politicians who willfully and shamelessly violate their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America should be swiftly tried and, upon conviction, publicly hanged at sunup the day after conviction. If multiple convicts are to be hanged they can choose with whom to share the gallows or names shall be drawn from the hangman's hat to be hanged 2 at a time.

Why are there so many mules in that first picture? Because they are better farm (pulling plow) animals, or are they better for hunting for some reason?

I can't answer that but I know a few coon hunters that hunt from mules. Mules are more sure footed in rough terrain.

I asked that one time looking at old pic of my grandfather as boy he always riding a mule not horse he told that back then if you had enough money to buy either a mule or a horse you get mule cause it was a better worker than the horse that it more important have good worker than one that was a good riding and if you had both that the horse so important that only the dad would get to ride , that boys had take turns riding the mule..

US soldier in position. Probably posing just for the camera. Near Nijmegen.

The newly erected graves of two WWII Pilots who lost their lives in Operation Vasity, Crossing the Rhine (3-24-45). Both were friends and co-pilots of my grandfathers. He watched their plane get hit and crash below him.

A crew from India checking out a planter made by Southern Plow Co., Columbus, Ga. 1950's.

Alex and Perdelia Glasscock, Jemison, Al. Chilton county. Alex, born in 1844 signed up with Company D 29th Ala Infantry in 1863. I'm guessing the pic is from the late 1880''s-early 1890's.

Mules are sweet riding animals. They are far better for hunting because they don't spook.

The trips into the Grand Canyon use all mules because of this. They start their careers as pack mules then graduate up to riding mules after a few years. I never saw a horse being ridden down those steep and narrow trails.
