Going out to Bliss next week and looking for suggestions for good food and any must stop places. What does Aldeer recommend?

As you're military you probably don't have this option...but mine would be don't go.

There was a Mexican restaurant down by the cemetery in the center of town. I will have to get the name.

My luck has been so bad lately, it could be raining pussies and I'd catch one with a dick broke off in it.

Cattleman' s Steakhouse. It's a working ranch with the biggest and best steaks you will ever eat.

I 2nd Cattlemans. It's a bit of a road trip from Ft. Bliss but definitely worth it. At least it was 25+ years ago. I'm sure many other joints have came and gone since then.

L&J or the Great American Cattle Co. for dinner. Rudy's BBQ for lunch and some amazing breakfast burritos. Cattlemans Steakhouse on a Saturday evening and plenty of authentic Mexican restaurants. Oh, and Twin Peaks for the scenery. I wish we had something like Rudys in north AL. Avoid most everything south of I10, some decent places north of I10 and south of Montana Ave.

Cattlemans was still rocking when I was there a year ago. Awesome steaks. Its about a 30-40 minute ride from the southeast gate of Ft. Bliss.

I was out there visiting about 4 years ago. They have a Buffalo Wild Wings, Texas roadhouses, smash burger and another decent rein post.

Do us all a favor and stay away. We got folks down there, but I don't recommend it to anyone.

Give me a hollar if shucks goes South for you.

It has been a few years for me, but when I was out there, they took the trimmings from the steaks and threw them out in the yard/desert just outside our window. First the roadrunners show up and feast. (lot smaller bird than the cartoon portrays) Then the yotes come out and the roadrunners haul @$$ out of there... Go hungry!! Leave Full!!!

If you are driving around in the am and see an Allsup's, stop and see if they any fresh butt bombs (fried burritos). My favorite was the Green Chili and Cheese. Gawd, how I miss those things.

This is the #1 recommendation you can get.

Cattlemans Steakhouse Indian Cliff's Ranch. Go early, spend time walking around the property. It is in Faben, TX just East of El Paso.

Carlos and Mickeys is a good choice for Mexican.

Aside from cattlemans. If you want the best traditional Mexican food go to Chopes in La Mesa. It’s in between El Paso and Las Cruces. Eat in the original place where the bar is. A closer good Mexican eat is Fortes just south of I10 past Geronimo heading west.
