Need opinions. For some reason I didn't get much penetration. Maybe 4-6". It was well placed right behind the shoulder. I've got lung blood but not much of it. I let him lay for a while, tracked him for about 75 yards and jumped him up. He will be my biggest bow buck and possibly flirting with P&Y. 10pt. Thoughts on the shot? Ain't got much signal out here.

Back out and let him lay overnight. Go back in the morning...with a dog, if possible.

If it was me I would back out until daylight and get a tracking dog.

If he was bedded down when you jumped him. He will be within 100 yards or less from where you jumped him last by in the morning and most likely down hill. You got him, so don’t sweat it.

What they said. And get a dog if you don't find him by lunch.

With a possible P&Y 10 point…..I wouldn’t tromp all over the area all morning long and then decide to call someone. Have someone there at daylight with the dog. That deer could have ran another 100 yards and bedded back down or he could have went 400+…..

I’ll say it again. Go home. Don’t make an emotional decisions and go in after him again. I’m looking forward to the pics in the morning!

Biggest buck of my life didn't bleed. Arrow was probably less than half way in. Hopefully you find yours tomorrow instead of 3.5 years later, though thumbup

Bet u hit offside shoulder and u got more penetration than what u think. I’d still let him lay and go back in the morning.

This. I’ve tracked a one lung shot deer several hundred yards. If you bumped him when he was bedded then you need to back out. If you hit lung he’ll likely die, he just needs time.

For reference, the buck I killed this morning was a likely heart/aorta hit and I found zero blood until I got to where he dropped.

Boy, this is gonna be a nerve wrecking night. I agree with everyone else, go home, rest and have you a dog at first light.

Hate to repeat what everyone is saying but it's important. Back out, don't "just go a few more yards" back out now and come back with dog if possible at first light. Best of luck.
