I have a 500 a era of family land in Pickens county that I will be hunting no monsters on camera but some solid mature deer. Also have a 650 acre lease near Alexander city not many big deer there but that farm is always good for a few does and A+ turkey hunting. And I kinda like the Magnificent 7 - 1

Pulling out at 4:00 am in the morning headed to Pike Co, IL. Will have to be a real nice one in order to shoot, but there are plenty of big ones that live there. We'll see.

Also found out yesterday that i got selected for a 5 day muzzle loader hunt in panther swamp the first week of December. Have any of you ever hunted there wouldn't mind some pointers for that place for the best interest of the team.

I am still killing hogs until the end of the month. Will be gun season before I probably start. I have a hunting club in Wilcox County where I will be doing most of my hunting.

Got a doe Friday afternoon. Wasn't really planning on shooting a doe but I watched this one for over an hour feed with a yearling not a Fawn. So when she eventually got down wind of me stomped, blew, took 2 bounds, and stopped broadside at 20 yards a little too long! Didn't find her until the next morning but she was real cool, and the meat was good so I'm happy. Actually found her on accident. Just walked up on it.

Struck out. Headed back now. EHD has just hit the area hard and we only saw one mature buck on the farm we hunted. Big change from last year.
We found several good ones that had been dead about a month.

Looks like I'm going to get to go this weekend. Hoping to be settled in just before the rain stops in the morning so when they come out I can be ready.
Good luck fellas.

Dang! Hate to hear that. What's the story on your hunt that day?

Scouted a spot Sunday morning that I usually only hunt 1 or twice a year and usually with my climber. Well I get there and the sign is so good I decided to hang a lock on stand. I spent all morning back there hanging the stand, cutting shooting lanes, banging all around. Well I felt so good about the spot I had to hunt it that afternoon. I've seen 2 does all afternoon and I'm making my last check around at dark before I start packing up and sure enough I catch a glimpse of white antler behind me. I get drawn back and realize it's very dark but I still felt like I could make the shot and I let it fly. I hear a loud shwack and all I can see is my nockturnal bouncing off through the dark woods. I backed out never even looked for sign and called in CNC. Spent the next morning looking for him to no avail. No blood, hair, beds, arrow nothing. We concluded it was a non leathal high shoulder shot after a nearly 1000 yard track.

I was able to get back out Sat AM in the wet, rainy, humid, spiderweb infested creek bottom. Watched two fawns romp around for about 2 hours within 50 yards of me. They had a big time running and jumping. I enjoyed that.
Nothing else showed up, however.

May try and hunt Friday morn, but I fly out for a wedding Friday afternoon and won't be back in the woods until the gun opener. Oh well maybe we will have some cooler weather by then

I'll be setting with my son this coming weekend, so I probably won't be trying for team points until the gun opener.
