Ok, so I have had tinnitus for a while. However, recently my left ear is quite loud! Anyone have it and found anything that helps with it? Quite annoying

Get used to it. My left ear has been this way for years 24/7. Should have wore ear plugs when I was younger. I have found nothing that will help. I have heard that there are some types of hearing aids that will nearly cut out all ringing. Don't have the money for that.

Tumor in inner ear area = radiation = virtually nothing left in inner right ear = Tinnitus from Hades = A swarm of bees living inside my head 24/7 except when I'm asleep. Barometric pressure changing makes it worse. I'm not usually a happy camper before or after storms. Hearing Aids to help = $6000+ dollars. BCBS insurance help = A big fat 0. One kid in college, another in private school = no hearing aids at least until Medicare age in 11 years.

Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

likely there isn't anything you can do for it. If you take a large dose of aspirin, stop. Have high blood pressure get it under control.

Man, you guys are not painting a pretty picture. I was hoping someone had stumbled onto some aldeer snake oil

It really sucks(and doesn’t make sense) that insurance doesn’t cover(or at least help) with hearing aids.

Saw the ent a few days ago. Hearing was fine, a little loss on upper end but not bad. Blood pressure under control (use to be my signal that it was getting out of hand)

I have it bad in the mornings. Strange thing though when power was out everywhere after the tornadoes it was gone. Power comes back on its back. I have been far away from anything electrical since and and its still there. Just weird.

For the first time in my life, I was able to immediately see a correlation between stress and increased ringing. Received a certified letter for my Mom from insurance stating a hospital visit wasn't covered and after reading it twice, the ringing went in to overdrive.

For hearing aids, a co-worker went to Costco and was able to get a set for under 2K. This is not an advertisement, but he did a lot of research and has been pleased so far.

I have found nothing that helps and have just learned to live with it or tune it out for the last 23 years.

Alhaw, I think stress has a whole lot to do with it. I only notice it during stressful times.

I just has a physical for the job I have now and hearing was one aspect of the 8 areas of evaluation. CRNP said that my left ear was "moderate to severe loss, leaning to severe". I said, "tell me something new".

As bad as I hate to say it, alcohol will increase its severity.

Started noticing mine about 8-10 years ago. Might have had it longer than that.

I just deal with it. Nothing other than Grandma's supposed home remedy drank-drops-mythology and none of that works.

Two things on here that pique my curiosity:

-- high blood pressure is or could be a contributor or cause?

-- caffeine is or could be a contributor or cause?

I've asked my physician about both of those, and other dietary and/or lifestyle changes. Aside from age and listening to music too loud when I was younger, along with not protecting my hearing in other situations, he said there's not a specific trigger for tinnitus because everyone's different. (And I agree.)

Yep. Doc told me caffeine would aggravate it. I have already cut back on caffeine because older I get, caffeine makes me pee like a russian race horse on speed!!

I've lived with it for years; when I'm sick, it's really bad ... but what I've found that helps is to just always have a little bit of white noise going on ... it helps mask it but not completely eliminate it ...

You just have to get used to it. When mine first started, I was about to go slap crazy...A hearing specialist told me it's basically your brain turning up the "gain" on the frequency you have hearing loss at. That would explain the hearing aids working to get rid of it. My neighbor has some hearing aids that he loves. Says the ringing is totally gone when he wears them. He got them while working at US Steel. The Dr said it was caused by the work environment and workers comp paid for them. Unfortunately, I have never worked in such conditions where WC was an option.

My left ear is far worse than the right. Its so loud sometimes I figure other folls should be able to hear it.
For the past several weeks my left has felt like it's stopped up. Like when flying an airplane but it won't ever pop or unstop.
The ringing has been much worse since that stopped up feeling came on
