Good evening Team 13. Looking forward to getting to know you guys better. I live in Phenix City which is in east Alabama near Columbus, Ga. More of an introduction later.

First line of business is to come up with a Team Name.

here... I'll think on a name but good with anything.

Checking in. My brother lived in Phenix City while he was in the military. He still has a house down there.

I'll be thinking on the team names.

Born and raised in Phenix City. Went to local high school(Central) myself and my three kids all went to and graduated from Central High. Lived here all my life expect 6 weeks when I rented a Columbus, Ga house when I first got married.

We all are checked in. Any suggestions for a team name? Any will do for me. I will try and offer up a few tonight sometimes.

I just don’t think I can go tomorrow wirh it as hot as it is.

Too hot for me too. I also have a 4 yr old grandson spending the night tonight. It is a long season and I may try and go Tuesday morning after my bus route. I can be in a tree by 9:45 AM and hunt a couple hours.

I very seldom hunt on Sundays but we have 2 grandsons playing travel ball and they both play in Peachtree City, Ga this Sunday. It is the last tournament for one and the next to last for the other.

I went this morning but it was a bust. I hope to slip up to my dads before work Monday or Tuesday morning and try to stick one

Going to work in the morning hen I gonna slip out to the stand tomorrow afternoon.

May try to go Wednesday about 10:00 AM to noon but for sure Saturday morning.

I'll be in the woods tomorrow and Wednesday mornings. Maybe Friday afternoon

Hung my stand this evening in a hardwood draw, along a creek in the bottom corner of a 3rd year cut.. Hoping to gig one in the morning

Doe and yearling this afternoon.

I hunt with my wife's 1st cousin and he went this morning while I worked and saw nothing. Heard and saw very few acorns and said it was green as all get out. We were covered in acorns last year but not this year.

My first camera check for the last 2 months ain’t good. I usually have a good many buck pics but there ain’t many this time. This was over a feed pile and salt lick. They did not plant the fields around our club so am wondering what that’s going to do.

Late getting away from work this morning and wife needed me to run some errands with her so I decided not to go this morning but hope to go for first time Saturday.

Wife going out of town Friday. May get to sneak out Friday after work, Saturday and Sunday afternoon.

I'm undecided for the weekend... Suppose to be 80 again. I may work through the weekend so I can a day or 2 next week

Yep. I may go red fishing instead. I ain’t fighting sweating and mosquitos.

I've made up my mind.. Gonna go to the TNF and chase bushy tails with my mt cur this weekend

Hmmm just realized I signed up to work tomorrow. That sucks.

Went this morning. Our woods are very thick and very green. Got turned around walking in and got lost so I opted to hunt an area I was unfamiliar width that looked promising. However, I saw nothing. But my hunting buddy saw 5 does.
Stayed till 10:20 AM. One of the grandkids had a soccer tournament in Auburn.
May try and go Tuesday morning after the rains on Monday.

Gonna try and leave work a few times early this week to hunt. Maybe get lucky and see something to shoot at.

I've seen a total of 9 in 2 hunts at the club. Hope it continues and I can get a shot

I had plans to take off and hunt in the morning but we're swamped at work.. Looking forward to the weekend

Today is my last day of this week to hunt. Haven't seen a deer since last week.

Born and raised and still living in Blount County.
I was raised on Straight Mtn if you know where that is.

Oh yea. Did most of my raising in Hayden but spent many a night raising hell all over Blount county. My dad lives up on pine mtn now

Hunt number two. Ain’t really planning on shooting today but maybe I’ll get lucky. I am actually watching where I want to hunt a few hundred yards off but wind is wrong. Just need to make sure they using same trails for next week.

Doe and a hog under 40. No shots. Doe bout blew me out the tree.

I live in Hayden now. I sell real estate out of Oneonta and my wife works in Birmingham so we split the difference.

I do all my hunting in Blount County. Mostly Straight Mtn and Locust Fork with a little bit in Little Shenandoah area.

Went Friday morning late after work. Was in a tree about 8:30AM
See deer here more times than not.
About 10 heard something behind me . Got a shot at a doe approximately 35 yards but missed left.
Maybe next time.

Congratulations Hoss606 great shot. Great job. Maybe you can give me a quick tutorial on how to shoot a bow.

Shot in my backyard a little bit ago after missing yesterday and it ain't the bow. Out of 5 shots, 2 perfect heart shots and 3 double lung shots.
My problem is the operator in the tree. ME!!!!

Hahaha it's hard to miss when they are 12 yards away and they don't know you are there

Will try again in the morning after work. Can hopefully be in a tree by 8:30 and hunt till about Noon before returning to work.

My buddy hunted today and jumped a couple going in and had a small 3 point come under his tree this afternoon he could have shot but didn't come up to our standards.

i saw a doe and spot yesterday morning.. they literally smelt my tree i was in. never blew, stomped, or acted nervous.... next time she will blow 100 times...

Went after work yesterday morning. Got in tree about 8:35 AM. Wasn't in tree 20 minutes when a deer west of me blew a good 10 times. Stopped for a minute or two and commenced to blowing again. Wait a few more minutes then started the third chorus. Never saw anything and the gnats and mosquitos and yellow jackets took to flight about 10. I stayed to 11:30 and had to go back to work.
My buddy was there too and saw one and had one blow at him.
Oh well, maybe later

i aint gonna lie.. I aint fighting them skeeters.. I think I goin tuna fishing this weekend instead.

Me either. It is a long season and many cooler days are ahead. I left my Thermacell home the other day but will get it ready just in case.

I️ been fishing. Tuna fished weekend and red fished on Monday. Too hot to hunt. May hunt tomorrow evening if I️ can get off work with the cooler weather.

Today would have been an awesome day to hunt

I am off Friday and will hunt then and again Saturday up until the Auburn football game at 3:30 est.

Set up his afternoon. Got a good report from yesterday afternoon and came to the general area. Buddy had a good 8 walking around him at 1545 but no shot offered with how thick it was. He saw two other small bucks he let walk. Let’s see what happens. Did have a fawn get inside our fence at work. Even though they spotted and 30 lbs. they will still kick your but. Just saying.

Saw this doe and spot and One Other doe and crippled spike. Saw a big ol pig two. Came out right before the doe and spike on a trail at about 100 yards out.

Went Friday and saw 2 doe and jumped one scouting after the hunt. It is so thick and green the does I saw did not offer any kind of shot. Wind pretty rough too.

Decided to sleep in Saturday and help the wife clean house after checking the weather report at 4 AM and seeing the wind report.

Looks like I may hunt tomorrow evening and all day Monday

Got in late but here. Since I couldn’t break away as fast as I wanted to I come to a quick spot. I will see deer but most likely the routine does and spots.

I’ve saw 13 animals in 2 hunts. One pig. 9 does and fawns and 2 spikes. Where them bucks at I have no idea.

We all need to shot a doe for the team bonus. With rifle season opening Sunday and we are forecasted a raining very windy day, may try and go Sunday afternoon.
If weather breaks may go Saturday. Hate to not go opening day.

Sorry. Doubt I shoot any does. I won’t on my regular club. Just not many of them. Now I will if I make it to the management land or a buddyys place. Maybe I will get the itch.

I plan to be after them this weekend. Shooting houses aren't my thing but I'm gonna sit one during the rain and see what happens... Ill bust a nanny if she wonders through

My buddy hunted this morning and saw nothing except smoke. About 1/4 of our lease was clear cut last year and are now burning the underbrush and large wood piles. He was in the back section and didnt know they were burning. He smelt it early but saw it driving out later.
A phone call would have been nice. He drives 2 hours and a half to hunt.

I love hunting right after a burn. Also mark the trails with flagging since they will be easy to spot. They will still use them after underbrush starts to grow back

Burners said they would be back in the morning so that has got us buggered up for another day or two. Hopefully Saturday they will be gone till they plant the pines.

Better make up your points with shooting 10+ point buck

What about three 8 points?

Points are determined by your largest buck(one buck per member) from each team member along with a doe. Does are 5 points but again just one per member, and a buck is 5 points plus the number of points. You shoot an 8 point you get 13 points.
If you shoot 3 8 pointers, they are just 13 points. You can shoot up and kill a 10 pointer and then you get 15 points, not 13 and 15 points.
If all members shot a doe, they get a bonus. I am thinking it is 5 points extra one time.

Roger. Ain’t saying I won’t. Just saying I am not at my bow club. I will anywhere else and hunt plenty other places.

Last year the team I was on came in 5 overall and would have been 3rd but the 10 point I killed was 15 points was not allowed because I did not post the proper picture with the proper information.
My camera malfunctioned when I was taking pictures after I shot him and had no backup. Forgot to get the processor to take one either. I submitted a skull cap and horns the next day that were not allowed.

Went Saturday and saw nothing. Very few squirrels were moving. Very smoky from the burn last week not sure if this mattered.

Off next week so hitting it hard Monday Tuesday and Wednesday.

Saw 9. 3 does and two spots. Then as I was letting my bow down four blowed over my shoulder. All I could see was tails running off

Didn't see a thing in north Perry county Saturday and only heard one shot all day

went yesterday morning and again this morning and I have yet to see a deer. But did see one about a mile form lease crossing the road this morning.
Hunting same places this year as last year where I/We saw tons and otns every time we went. I do not understand.

This year woods are still green as all get out and our acorn crop this year was virtually non existent.

Went again this afternoon and had a doe come running thru where I was hunting as if her tail was on fire. Thought maybe she was being chased by something(dog,coyote,another deer) but nothing surfaced behind her.
Then about dark one blew at least 10 times at me.
Wait till tomorrow Mr/Mrs deer!!!

Blew my bow up. Not good. Hopping to get it fixed within a few days.

Back in action fellas. Shot it at 5 tonight at bow shop at 15 yards so hoping other pins are gonna be close like in past.

went this morning and saw 2 does about 8 AM then another doe and a button buck about 9 AM.
We had seen so few deer to date I held off popping one of the does.

Just have to buy a little extra stuff to get moved ahead in the line. Also they had everything in stock.

Well I took off this week to hunt. And how that plan went every way but hunting. I only hunted one afternoon and one morning. I will get to go this afternoon so maybe that will be the saving grace. I have seen deer every time but nothing with horns. That’s weird for here. I’ve seen 20 deer and two hunts and usually one has horns in that many.

Went this afternoon. Ran deer out of field and as soon as I got up three more come out. When the left a spike cam out and fed and then another doe. The spike ended up grunting and chasing the doe off to have the green field to his self I reckon. Had deer in field entire afternoon.

Boys I been sick and under the weather for what feels like too long. I should be back at chasing this weekend.

I pulled the trigger and bought a new deer rifle, I'm hoping to have it delivered by Friday but we'll see.

Wife had a sale at there store this week so had to help a little with that and the kids.last time hunting was last Sunday evening but Hunted this evening for first time and didn’t see anything in the stand but saw one walking out run in front of my light. Probably not going to Morris with he south east wind but will probably hunt Wednesday and Thursday afternoon for sure. May take off.

Too much going on the last week. Unable to hunt but plan to go in the morning after bus run (8:30 AM EST) till about noon thirty EST and get ready for afternoon bus run.

May try and go back Thursday morning but definitely Saturday. May pull an all day sit.
