I'm hunting in Shelby Co., Chilton Co., Wilcox Co. - AL and Pike Co.- GA this year. My season won't kick off until Sun afternoon because of Scouting event with my youngest son this weekend. Better believe I am getting after it once I can.

I hunted a steep north facing ridge Saturday afternoon and saw three fat does, one within 70 yards ... close! I hunted that ridge again Monday morning and it was a total bust as the wind in my face was at least 20 MPH.
I went on foot up around a long white oak ridge Sunday afternoon and got soaked by a monsoon. Lots of sign though, I'll be going back there again for sure

I submitted us as Team Backstraps. On another note, I miscalculated how points worked. Guess I missed out on 12 points...5 for a deer and 7 for the number of points 1" or longer. Oh well, guess I'll just have to do better next time.

Hey guys! I hope you're all doing well. I've been pretty busy, but plan to hunt this afternoon and tomorrow. I'll be in the hardwoods as we are still seeing very few deer on our plots. We may be able to cut hay out of our plots soon if the deer don't start eating it! We have A LOT more coyote pics this year. I'm gonna let the air out of one if I see him! Good luck!
