I haven't talked to David in a long time, but I knew him well back in the 70s. Not only was he a big time duck hunters, but he also had the reputation of being one of the best turkey hunters in Wilcox County back then, and there were lots of good ones in those days. I thought the lady who wrote this article did a good job. http://www.alafarmnews.com/index.php/a-call-of-tradition

David is a good friend of mine from way back in the day. One of the best turkey hunters I ever knew, and I've known a bunch of them. I talked for a good while with him at Roy Bonners funeral this year. Same ol David. One of the good ones.
I've spent most of the money I've made in my lifetime on hunting and fishing. The rest I just wasted.....

I read that article, nicely done. Also I've met Taylor and had one of his calls that I can't seem to find. He was a nice guy, the times we dropped in to see him and look at some calls. I thought about calling Gaston, I'd imagine his calls would be similar in sound to Taylor's.

I ordered one of his ball caps off his website a couple of years ago, and he called me right back to say the bottomland was out of stock, but he'd send me a free one in olive or gray. I think it helped that I have the same last name as he does! He's into genealogy and we compared notes on our family trees for a while. Great guy.
