Just a guess but my experiments with 150s in the WSM they didn't like the slow burners. I tried H4831SC and got anemic velocity and lots of muzzle flash. may be about perfect for the heavies.

I just worked up a load in my Husqvarna 308 using the 178 ELDX. 42 grains of varget will let me shoot .5" groups at 100yds and will group better that's just as good as I can do

Here's my 308 with the 178 eldX factory loads. I dissected one and it had 42 grs of appears to be varget in it from hornady but cannot verify. I can't handload any better for now

Just need to dial in the 300 wsm. Just built some 178 eldX with RL17 and RL26. Hope they lock it down.

That's some good shooting. I've seen factory loads improve over the years I've been loading my own and in some cases they're hard to beat. I would like to know what you figure out on the wsm

Real good for factory loads for sure. What kind of rifle you shooting them through.

If I agreed with you, we'd both be wrong.

It's not a bull barrel is it? Those sako's are some shooters right from the box.

No no. Stainless fluted 21" barrel. Good little shooter. It shoots 2500 fps. About 100 slower than advertised but for a 178 on a 21" barrel that ain't bad.

I'd love to have one like it strictly for hunting. Sakos are top shelf all the way around, if I had to start over I'd probably just buy one Sako and be done

Heck, I'd just take that 308, with a group like that and not worry about it.

Nice shooting, btw.

Did you get a chance to tryout the 165s?

3 shot group or 5? If that's 5 shots that is amazing. I can usually get 3 or 4 in the same hole cloverleafing but the 5th seems to get a little out.

had a nice cloverleafed group with my 300WSM at 200 yds with eldx 200gr factory this weekend. This is a new-to-me rifle.

I think the factory stuff has a mv of 2850fps. Interested in handloading a smaller grain as 165's always worked well for me in previous 300wsm. 178 may be the ticket. Would like to push that speed up a bit too.

Lots of goals, not enough time. 257, I would be interested in whatever hand load data you end up with, if you don't mind sharing.

I just seen some at Simmons yesterday and picked some 145gr to load up to play around with for a 270 win. Now I've got to find some load data over the weekend for R hunter and 4350 so i can get to it
