I don't know anything about the other two, but I really like the Magnetospeed though. Pros and cons to everything of course, but I like not having to worry about shooting it, if it is sunny out, can shoot over it without having to get out in front of folks shooting at adjacent tables, etc. The main negative is that your gun, as expected, won't shoot to the same POI as without it installed. This causes me to have to have to load up a few extra rounds (once I have chosen a load from testing) for shooting strictly over the chrono to get my velocity for that load, but not a huge deal to me personally.

I would buy the LabRadar if you want to spend that much coin. Good reviews on that product and unaffected by sunlight. Oehlers are the gold standard but can also be affected by sunlight just like lesser expensive units.

I use a prochrono, which is about $100. I just try to keep it out of direct sunlight and I get good, consistent readings.

I have used the LabRadar and if I was writing articles for Guns & Ammo that's what I would get.

But I load for accuracy 1st and speed 2nd.

Most of the time I load them hot and hotter still and with various powders and bullets till I find what I am looking for.

Then I whip out the Magneto Speed and see what it is running velocity wise.

What velocity it was running on the 5th powder I tried 2 grains from where it shot good.... I don't really care.

But that's just me.

I wouldn't ever own one with screens again either way.

I've got an RCBS Ammomaster I've never even hooked up I'd sell if anyone wants it. It would work fine if you were going to use it on a once in a while basis.

I have been leaning towards the Magneto Speed. Thought I would ask you folks. Thanks for the response.

I've got a ShootingChrony Beta Master. I like it, but it took some getting used to and working out the kinks. I usually have to take a 22 to get it set up and make sure it's working. it seems to work best 5-7 yards from the barrel with centerfires, as the muzzle blast will shake the screens and cause errors. When I shoot it, I will likely not replace it with another. There is easier and better technology out there now. But, it does work.

I've never shot a chrono....with a rifle.

I've shot at least a 1/2 dozen. Shooting something like .223 then shooting something like a .340 and not moving it further away. Muzzle blast moved the thing after several shots. Or putting it too far away and shooting at the wrong target on the board.

Hate those "darn" things. Nothing worse than an aggravating chronograph. I just decided I don't care that much and don't use it until I get the rifle kinda dialed in.
