I took an Xbolt in on a trade. Gun looks perfect. Found a small white smudge on the stock I thought was sticker residue. Rubbed in it some with my thumb and the duratouch coating started rolling right off. What are my options here? Would it be best to have it refinished or maybe just forget about it and have the stock dipped in a camo? I am so have a Maxus shotgun with the same finish. Had it for years in all sorts of weather and never had an issue with it.

I don't have a browning with dura touch. But have read a lot about people that do on here. From my understanding you can send it back to browning and they will put on a new stock. I don't know the steps involved tho. Other than replacing the stock I don't think there is a solid alternative.

Ok thanks. The guy I got it from said he had already sent it back and it was returned with a new stock. So this new stock is doing the same. I will try to contact browning and see if they will replace it again.

I think I've read that you have to very careful not to get any gun cleaning solvents on the Duratouch stocks.

My Winchester has started to become tacky. It's a known issue. I think if you go the factory replacement route, you should be ready for opening day of duck season in 2021.

Do a search function here for duratouch and there are least one or two threads. Browning is standing behind the warranty, but we're up front in saying they could no longer give estimated turn around times due to the sheer number of repairs they were having to make. My rifle went from nothing to every inch was tacky within a few months. I wrapped mine in gun tape. They said I would need to remove scope and send in and they would remove the old and redip.

I sent mine in to browning in April. Still have not assigned a gunsmith to it. So 2021 is probably fairly accurate date for turnaround.

I'd demand a refund before I would wait that long. You could have a complete custom rifle made in less time.

I think I'm just going to look into an after market stock. I'd just rather be done with it all together. I didn't trade for the gun so i could send it off for that long. I like the xbolt stock design. If I could find a wood stock for it I'd rather have that but I'm probably leaning towards a boyds stock.

I sent mine in February and after 6 months they couldn't give me any information on it. I very politely told them how I felt and how I had been a life long customer, as well as my dad and granddad and that this was making me rethink that. 1 week later a brand new rifle was at my house.

I posted on the other thread. It took over a year to get mine back.

One year and 28 days for me. Because of the sticky camo finish and the gun shooting 18" high and right , Browning sent me a new shotgun, but it took them that long to decide to replace it . GOOD LUCK .
