My recipe. Prep time 10-15 minutes.

1 box saltines. I like keebler brand. Lighter.
1 1/8 cup pure canola oil.
1 packet dry ranch dressing mix.
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder.
1/2 teaspoon onion powder.
1/4 teaspoon paprika..
2 heaping table spoons red pepper flakes
Pinch or cayenne.
As always more or less to taste.

How I do it.

Stand crackers on edge in a clear 9x13x3 plastic container.
In a two cup measureing cup: Pour canola oil and remaining spices.
Stir really well and pour entire mixture evenly over crackers.
Cover with clear cling wrap (to prevent leaks) and attach lid.
Let crackers sit 5 minutes then turn container upside down.
Flip every 5 minutes for 20 minutes then every 10 for about an hour.
I still flip them every hour or untill oil is moving slow.
Stand it on its ends if possible.
I will turn them over several times till they are ready.
Let them sit at least 24 hours but I prefer 48 hours.
They will not get soggy but crispier.
I make two batchs at a time because they don't last long.

Give it a try and let me know what you think.

My wife does them with oyster crackers. She puts more crushed red pepper and she also uses a gallon Ziploc bag. They are a great snack.

haleyville al,
Them are fine. He means a pinch of cayenne. I substituted Cayenne for red flake spoon for spoon. That was bad real bad. But we still ate them.
