Never had to use it but I have it as part of Life Member package.

I firmly believe that a double gallows should be constructed on the East Lawn of The White House. Politicians who willfully and shamelessly violate their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America should be swiftly tried and, upon conviction, publicly hanged at sunup the day after conviction. If multiple convicts are to be hanged they can choose with whom to share the gallows or names shall be drawn from the hangman's hat to be hanged 2 at a time.

Only if I have a loss.

Had it for years and have had a couple stolen once, never filed. Didn't have to correct numbers.

Gotta be. Otherwise you'd say you had a single gun, get covered cheap, then file a claim on a $30,000 mint European shotgun.

I used it years ago. I never gave them a list of my guns. They used the police report for proof of theft. Was a very easy transition and they gave me enough to replace my gun and case it was in. That was at least 25 years ago though.

You don't have to give them a list. You pay a certain amount for a certain amount of gun coverage, then file a claim if something happens.

I fell out with the NRA years ago when they called me begging for money every night, but I still wanted the insurance. I was advised by a knowledgeable person to just get a rider on my homeowners that will cover what I own and the ones that the City owned that were in my possession. Never had to use it. The only gun I've had stolen was a rifle and we figured out who did it and the kid had other charges pending so his lawyer talked to him and my rifle showed back up at the lawyer's office. True to my word, I didn't pursue any more charges. Truthfully, one more charge wasn't going to make a difference anyways. The kid got sent off to Mt. Meigs.

BTW, I never provided anyone a list. I just estimated the value for the homeowner's rider and had records to back it up if needed.

It's the cheapest and easiest route I found. Like said above you do not give them a list just pay for the amount of coverage you want. The only guns you would be required to list is if any of your gun/scope combos are worth more than $2500 each they ask for those to be listed.

As an insurance agent, I've only heard good things about that policy they sell. Not sure who it's technically underwritten by, but that's really neither here nor there. Obviously I'd tell folks just to get it wherever they have their other insurance, but it's not a hill I'd die on. With my particular company we do require a receipt (showing the value) and serial numbers. If the receipt is over 3 years old we want a written appraisal (which you can get from any pawn shop or gun shop). I understand and agree that's a lot of trouble, and 99% of the time that's the reason people wind up going through the NRA (or a few other similar outlets). The only thing I can tell you about a policy that does not require you to prove value on the front side, is to beware of how they value it on the back side. I would be very dubious that it's that easy. I would also question what "perils" their policy covers. Usually the one you get from your home insurance company is "all perils", literally it covers it for just plain ol' loss.

I don't tell my clients to add it as a rider to their house insurance, I tell them to purchase a freestanding policy for it. That way it has no ill effect on their house policy if they filed a claim for their guns. I've used this myself once before. Came out of the woods one evening and laid my gun on the toolbox of the truck, loaded up the ATV and changed boots (etc), forgot that gun laying back there. Drove home before I remembered it...yep, it had slid off somewhere during the 1hr drive. Drove back the next day, but it was gone. Turned it in and got every penny back from insurance (no deductible).

Something for some to consider is that a lot of homeowner riders used to not cover anything NFA. I don't remember if the reason was due to evil machine-guns being NFA or if that type of classification was more 'collectible' and not insurable thru a regular rider.

The problem with appraisals is that in order to get a fair value, you have to go through someone that is not interested in buying your gun to make money off of it. Gun shops and pawn shops are not going to give you a number you would be happy accepting in a settlement, at least not in my opinion. The charge I've heard on people who appraise guns is like 10% of the value. I don't have a lot of high end guns, but that adds up really quickly.

Probably true, I've thought that lots of times. In my experience, 90% of the policies I do the people already have their satisfactory receipts and stuff like that. It hasn't been often that folks have had to get appraisals (but when they do, it's a low percentage of folks who ever go get them)

Good point. I looked into with some guns my uncle has. He keeps receipts from everything. Issue with that is I'd like to believe the BAR from 1977 is worth a little more than what the receipt shows. New guns I don't guess is an issue.
