I want to know how he got the pics back off the sd card X2! Recovery software. It's basically free these days. Used to cost a thousand bucks or so. When images are deleted they still exist, they are allowed to be overwritten. Software Is so good it can go back several generations to recover images. Sandisk had a free recovery download at one time. It's not a 100% thing. I had a tech buddy of mine donit for me a while back. I didn't even know it was possible till he heard me bitching about accidentally deleting some pics.

EDIT: I woke up this morning and realized what I wrote was stupid haha. Amazing what a good nights sleep will do for a feller.

I want to know how he got the pics back off the sd card X2! Im pretty sure you just hook an USB cable up to your camera and hook it to your computer. The pictures are on the hard drive of your camera as well as the card. Just guessing, but I was told that before. Id like to hear from him ( the OP) and see how he did it.

I didn't even know it was possible till he heard me bitching about accidentally deleting some pics. Depends on the software. How the drive is deleted/formatted etc... Some agencies have some serious recovery software that can garner info from the Memory etc... Think why Hillary smashed there HDs with hammers. I was a full-time pro photog, went digital when it became viable in the early 2000s. The first time I'd heard of recovery software a friend that owns a sports photog business had a corrupt micro drive. He paid $3000 for a german software to try and recover the drive. He got most of the images back. Recovery software has come a long way. Had another friend that had a 1T drive fail, he paid a few hundred to have that drive recovered. He got things that were deleted years ago. He then for the heck of it ran the free software and recovered the same things. It's easier than you think. I have few free recovery disk still laying around.

Nevermind guess I should have finished all the comments.

I have a friend that has access to the best software needed to recover data from any device. When he gave me the card back he had restored 5027 pics all the way back to the year 2012.

This will take some detective work and may not be possible or easy. print picture of him from trail cam. Address and stamp envelope to his disability case worker. Take picture of picture half in and out of envelope with address and case worker name legible. Take picture of envelope held just outside mail drop box opening. Send pictures to him with invitation to stay out of your woods from now on. Pretty smart thinking. I hope I never piss you guys off.

I think the rule is what is on public land is public. It amazes me at the number of people that think this way. How would you feel if you came up to your truck parked in a public parking lot and a dude was going thru your tool box or bed of truck? When you asked what he was doing his response is "well its in a public parking lot"

retrieving data from an sd card that has been deleted: several ways, cnet has a good set of instructions. https://www.cnet.com/how-to/how-to-recover-deleted-photos-from-a-memory-card/but there are many tools available for free for use. If you have the guy's email address, you can use a one time email address generator to send a copy of it to him.

Put a bear trap under the camera. Then he can justify his disability. He'll be legit crippled.
