That Hawaiian bird wasn't cheap. I'd almost guarantee that. Hunting public land is the cheapest option but that's still a pile of nonresident license fees to pay.

That Hawaiian bird wasn't cheap. I'd almost guarantee that. Just a quick google showed me 3 different outfitters ranging $1000-1600 for 2 bird limit hunts. Not cheap, but cheaper than I expected. Of course the flight will run that tab on up there.

Just out of curiosity I used kayak to look up airfares. $820 round trip from Birmingham. Maybe one day. Of course, my wife will insist on making that trip so my expenses would almost double. Thankfully she couldn't care less about killing a turkey.

The guys that have completed the US Slam mentioned in this thread did so in a short period of time I believe.
It's my goal to complete a US Slam and World Slam before I'm pushing up Daisy's. I just caught the bug a few years ago to complete a US Slam. I think I've got 11 states completed so still have a long way to go. I normally do one or two new states most Springs. I managed 3 new states last year.
The cost of traveling OOS to hunt turkey is very reasonable compared to OOS hunting for big game. I can spend 10 to 12 days traveling OOS and normally hunt two or three states in that time frame. I can do a trip like that for what most folks in this state want for turkeys rights these days.

Being limited to a max of 4-5 days straight really makes it hard to do more than 1 or 2 states a year. I've got 7 states on public land now. Maybe in another 20 years I'll be getting close lol.
