I like to sidedress my row crops. I can tell you this, i broadcasted fertilizer on some of my watermelons this year and sidedressed some, the sidedressed way outdid the broadcasted. But i figured it rained so much it wazhed the fertilizuer out of the soil alot quicker than it should have.. on the other hand, the best patch i ever had, i broadcasted fddtilizer.

Sidedress or topdressing nitrogen is of course a whole different subject. P&K however are very immobile so that's why broadcasting works better.

I had access to a 1 row planter and was gonna plant about an acre at the house but with my tractor having wide tires I could not figure any way to easily plant corn without it being in 48" rows. And didn't want to plant that much with my little hand push planter. When I plant corn and peas in my garden I just broadcast the fertilizer.

If you're gonna be stupid you better be tough.

I've got a 2 row Ford 309 I'd get rid of if you wanted it. I'm using a 4 row now and have no need for it anymore. Pm me if interested.

My paw paw would let us broad cast "sodie" because he said it would get down in the stalk and burn it if the rain didn't come like the weather man said. We alway "strowed" it every other row with a wash bucket and then he would plow it in. He did get Farmer of the Year one time so I figured he knew what he was doing. I never even questioned him. Just like my maw maw told me you couldn't drink milk with fish. Still don't do that and I have no idea why other than she told me I couldn't.
