Good luck... I tried my damndest to catch one for my dog and they always got the bait. I put that trap on a hair trigger and couldn't get one. I gave up and listened to other guys by just working my dog where I knew squirrels hang out (local parks) Once he saw one and Treed it, its been on ever since.
I take him to a place where the squirrels are a little more game and he struggles. In his defense, he's nearly ten months old and still has a ways to go but he knows when he's close... Ill see a squirrel in a tree and once he gets close, he'll smell it and start looking up. He's got to learn to trust his nose but I'm always seeing improvement.
Roads? Where we're going, we dont need roads. ~Doc brown

I've always thought showing dogs a caged squirrel was a bad idea. I saw a video of a dog treed on an empty cage once
We will burn that bridge when we get there

I caught a load of them back when my dogs were puppies. Live trap with a corn/sunflower mix behind the trigger. I only did that until they were 5 or 6 months old
You gonna pull them pistols, or whistle Dixie?
