Should the wild hog population in Alabama be eradicated or should it be kept down to a manageable level?
What are the pro's and con's of both?
I know personally I've fed a lot of people with the hogs I've killed but after all day of bush hogging and seeing the damage they're doing to my property I've come to these questions.

I'm not sure if either thing could be accomplished. How?

Since i like hunting them, id like to manage the population so they dont cause so much damage. But id like to keep huntibg them.

It's possible to put a huge dent in the pig population.
If there was a $80 per tail bounty and land owners were financially incentivized to open up and let hunters eradicate pigs, the population would be hit HARD.

Not hogs, but the same general idea of a financial bounty.

Not saying it would be practical or cheap but it is possible

Until some someone gets his hands on lots of pig tails from a processing plant.

They will never be eradicated. Just going to keep spreading. You can do your best to keep your numbers down as much as possible like Barry does. If you didn't they would be literally everywhere.

I remember back in the 70's and 80's my uncles talking about different people killing hogs on yellow and clifty creeks so I know they've been around for a long time.

As many people as there are hunting around and on my place you would have thought there was a bounty...

Other than humans the only thing that kills them with regularity would be alligators.

I would rather not have either gators or hogs around tho...
