I've only seen one work day that was organized. Every other one is just show up and go do something, no real coordination. That might be why some people struggle with showing up to them...

25-40.
But it's two of us and we have 1150 acres. Same here. But a little less acreage. And I like it this way.
Life is a journey. Make sure and bring plenty of Beer.
My luck has been so bad lately, it could be raining pussies and I'd catch one with a dick broke off in it.

Our first work day is the weekend of AUG. 26th through Sept. 24th, you have to make at least 3 of those days, I usually make it every Saturday, it wouldn't take that many day's if everyone would show up...

Until this year we only required 16 hours of work by each member, based on honor system. Planting weekend is mandatory and not considered a work day.
But this year, because most of the 16 hours was used for personal scouting, we set up 2 work days and each member was required to attend at least one of the two, or be accessed a fee of $200.00
We had 10 of 13 show up for the first one and got a ton of needed things accomplished. The second one, we only had three show up and two of those were at the first one. We still have work to be done and still require each member to put in an additional 16 hours. If they don't do the work or pay the fine before the season opens, then they don't hunt until they do.

One club I was in assigned tasks to each member and they had to complete it before season start. When they did it was their choice, which was nice. We have done this with good results. Assigned jobs to members with a due date and they got it done based on their schedules. Some worked in the afternoons, some Sunday after church and some on Saturdays.

Need yalls opinion on this. I got a call from a guy in our club the other night hes not officially the pres but pretty much handles all work days, anyway he calls dogging me for not making any work days & pretty much accusing me of not wanting to work & thinking I'm just gonna show up first day of hunting season to hunt. Now saying that I was injured at work back in December & it resulted in major back surgery in April & I'm still out of work because of it & ive talked to the guy all spring & summer letting him know what going on & told him I couldn't make any work days until released by my doc & ive offered to help in other ways by buying extra materials for shooting houses, seed fertilizer etc. but he's turned it all down. Anyway it really pissed me off am I wrong on this?

I live 825 miles (one way) from the club I'm in down in Clayton AL. When I was considering joining three years ago I asked the club President if work days would present a problem, and he assured me it was not a problem. When i come down to hunt in January, I do my best to help out as best I can. The members are a great bunch of guys, and I cherish the time I spend with them.

So far on 1800ac, only Three of us out of 15 have done pretty much everything... salt licks, bush hogging, planting for summer, and planting for doves, built shooting houses, put in new gates and cut all the downed trees from storms. We have been working most weekends most of the summer. We had voluntary work weekend two weeks ago and only the same three showed up to work. We will have a planting weekend first week of October, Any no shows will be fined per day. I am being asked by the no shows, where they should hang stands and what I have on cameras, it's getting more frequent as it cools off.... it is a ton of work, but we have a good time working and the members not coming are really missing out...... because come December, these same noshows will be bitching about not seeing deer.

I know exactly how you feel. Everyone wants to hunt but a lot of people don't like to do the work. It always ticks me off when ones who never show up complain of some things not done. I work my butt off on our land and spend countless hours on a tractor because I enjoy having a nice place to hunt.

I'm in the same boat. Joined a new club this year. Almost 3k acres and of the 12 members I've met 4 of them. The 5 of us have worked 3 or 4 weekends over the summer, and haven't seen a lick of anyone else. I'm sure everyone will be around come deer season though.
