Joined a new club this year and several of the food plots have Sawtooths on the edges. Never hunted anywhere that had them. I know they tend to drop early, but I'm curious how early? Do they ever make it to season?
Turkeys be damned.

Depends. Some have already dropped. Others hold them longer into October. I've noticed the longer they stay here in our local climate the more they tend to adapt to dropping closer to the same time as most of our native oaks. If they haven't turned brown yet, and the caps are still green, you have a good chance they make it to opening week.

About half of them are brown, and dropping now, and the deer and hogs are hammering them. The other half are still green, cap and acorn.
Turkeys be damned.

I hunt several places in south Mississippi that have them. Very few ever make it to October 1st.
