When your dirt is as strong as this is it doesn't matter. I could fertilize your sand with this.

That is some good looking dirt. Looks like a nice mix of clay without being too much. That just right dirt.

I love seeing and smelling a newly turned field. It sure did break up well! Gonna wait about 3 more weeks to get ours all tore up.

Several times after my plots were cut I went to check them out and there were mature bucks in them. It seems they love the smell of freshly cut dirt too.

So far so good.....passing 1/2 inch of good slow soaking rain. Looks like a lot more to come.

Way more promising start to plots than this time last year.

The way its raining outside right now makes you want to just stand on the porch with a cup a coffee in your hand and watch it. You couldn’t ask for it to be any more ideal. Now if that real heavy chit over in south GA will just stay the hell away.

Dude got bashed for planting last weekend on a thread earlier, one weekend later we get a little bit of rain and it's damn wish my seed was in the ground!

We still havn't had but less than 1/8th of an inch of rain here in NW Fl.

I plan to try Throw n Mow for a few years, but dang I love the way a freshly tilled field looks and smells.

Just past the 1" mark as the rain picks up a little in intensity......Still falling nicely though.

This about 2-3 weeks earlier than I usually plant but I’m focusing more on current conditions this year rather than traditional planting dates. We’ve obviously seen a sooner than normal swing to cooler temps and we might not see another rain event this ideal for a while.

Yea, I plant according to the weather, not the calendar. Acceptable planting dates are Sept. 1 at my location, which typically is early, but not this year.

Seeing some big ol' fat rain now as I'm quickly passing 1 1/2 inches....Hoping it shuts off somewhere between 2-3 inches.

Part of farming is adapting watching forecast not strictly relying on a set calendar date

257, how will this rain affect the corn harvest? Our lease has corn on it and it's not been picked yet. Some of the tallest stalks I've ever seen.

Shouldn't affect it unless the wind gets up and blows it down.

I think it's gonna be fine. Harvey got pretty rough and it stood. Don't think this one is any worse

Thanks, he told us he was planning to harvest during the first week of the month but that didn't happen. He's planning following it with winter wheat or canola, that's if he plants a winter crop at all.

In that case, I'd say it's right where it needs to be.

Ended up with 2.5 inches.....That'll work.

We planted 40 plots yesterday, I'm whipped. 12.5 hours on a tractor will get your azz when you aren't used to it. Put out around 22k pounds of Pelletized lime, fertilizer, and seed.

Ours was planted a week ago today, but hasn't had any rain on it since it was planted. It's about ankle tall, but needs a good rain.

Meh.…….I think I’ll keep doing it the “lazy way”. You’ve got WAAAAAY better natural soil to work with than the sand I’m growing in and I’m still outpacing your growth….or at least matching the results with much less time and effort.



Look, honestly I don’t care to have this whole “who’s peckers bigger contest with you”….and I don’t lose any sleep at night over how any one individual chooses to plant. This shows that what I’m doing isn’t horsechit no matter how much the “resident farmer” bashes it. If other folks want to try it themselves then its foolish at this point for you and couple others to continue to keep slamming it every time its brought it. Just let it go man.

I got half of my home plot planted a few days ago. I mostly planted chicory, several varieties of clover, some turnips and wheat in this planting. It's early for planting this far south but wanted to get the clovers, chicory and turnips started. I'll come back mid October and top sow some rye on this section of the plot.
