I got $200 to upgrade the trigger in my 6.8. Can you recommend something you are using in one of your rifles? Thanks.

Geissele SSA-E

Make sure it is the SSA-E and not just the SSA.There is a world of difference.

You are going to get all kinds of suggestions but research the SSA-E. It gives you a non boxed design,so it won't get clogged up by a spent primer or some debris. It also gives you a two stage, which allows a very light second stage while still being combat safe.

You can easily rip through both stages for fast fire,or go to the wall and stage the shot for a 2 lb break when shooting distant targets. I really think it is the best on the market.

I've never spent that much on a trigger.
I have a BCM trigger in my Daniel Defense.

It is a simple glammed up milspec type trigger for $60ish.

I think PSA has a Geissele right now for $180 or so.

I'll second this comment. I have the SSA-E in all of my AR platform rifles.

I did some research on this trigger last night and watched the Geissele - Choosing the right trigger video. I think I'm going to order one of these. Thanks for the info.

Let us know how you like it. I really don't think you can go wrong with the SSA-E. Geissele makes some nice competition triggers too ,but for something totally reliable, safe, without set screws to go wrong,I don't think you will beat the SSA-E.

For about 1/2 the price of the SSA-E you can get a rock river varmint two stage.

How does that compare to their National Match? The NM isn't nearly as nice as the SSA-E.

I second the Rock River triggers for half the price. I have their "two stage match" version in both of my match AR service rifles.

Have you compared it top the Geissele SSA-E?

I have the RRA NM 2-stage in my 6.5 Grendel. It is as nice a trigger as I've had the pleasure to be behind on the AR. My BIL has mostly Geisseles in his weapons and I've been behind a couple of his with the SSA-E. I'm not sure which is better but I can sum up my experience like this: remember when the internet was slow, then there was 56K, and then about 15 years ago everything was more or less instantaneous. Now you can get even faster internet, but you can't really tell because instant is instant. Why pay more for instant+ if you are still too slow to use instant?

To me it is not as good but the Rock River is a significant upgrade for the money... just a little heavy but you can change springs, etc. Really a No-brainer at it's price point.

$200+ trigger in a carbine with a red dot... a bit unnecessary to me. But I've done it. So to each their own I guess.

I had tried the RR National Match, but that was the only RR I've tried. To me it was the same as the Geissele SSA but not as good as the SSA-E.

I will admit I am very picky about triggers and a little extra $$ isn't such a huge deal to me. The RR trigger is a huge improvement over the stock AR trigger which is about like ten miles of bumpy rutted out road if you are use to a good 2 lb trigger that breaks without any creep at all.

Do the RR triggers use full power springs like the Geissele?

I have heard the Geisseles are a bit better and will hold up longer. Never tried one. I put my money elsewhere in the rifle. I will buy one if I ever run up on a good sale. Due to the rules, I can only go minimum 4.5 lbs trigger pull, so I bet the varmint version is even better.

I have so many other areas that I need to improve anyway.

The varmint is basically the same trigger as the NM, just with a lighter spring. They are rated at 3.5-4.5 where the NM is 4.5-5.5 if I remember correctly. My experience is the varmint triggers run closer to a crisp 3 and the NM sucks!
