To a 10 year old, "unbreakable" sounds more like a challenge than a selling point...kind of like "puncture proof" or "stainless"!

Back in 2014 I bought a Ninja 600 from a guy at work, we get it off the truck at the house, I get on it and off I go........45 minutes later I have totaled the bike and almost myself, broke ankle, broken wrist, and a ton of road rash, by the way the road rash hurts way more than the broken bones....

My wife fusses at me because I won't take stuff back; I just hate the hassle. I ordered an adjustable charge bar for a Mec loader and a stud broke off while I was putting it together. I didn't think it was my fault so I called the place where I bought it, but they said I'd have to return to the manufacturer. That was too much trouble, so I drilled a hole in the pot metal and used a sheet metal screw to replace the stud. It's held together several months, but it's a shoddy piece of equipment.

Back in the 70s, I bought a Fenwick rod that advertised a no questions asked lifetime warranty. It was an expensive rod and the warranty was the only reason I bought it. The third replacement is in the shed now, and I never felt bad about returning it. I think it depends on what the warranty says as to whether or not you are being unethical in returning something.

I remember my first Fenwick. Yes, very expensive it was an HMG Lunkerstick. Dishonestly affects pricing just as much as shop lifting. It's figured in to prevent loss. In other words we all pay for it any time we purchase something. It is just as wrong as buying something you need, using it then returning it. These are things that should have been learned in childhood.

If the OP took the item back, told the store what he did, and they took the item back then no problem. If not, then he knew he was doing wrong and what he did was no different then shoplifting. Just my opinion.

If that's their policy, then great, no problem. You're the one though that wrote you took Lowes their "faulty" saw, leading folks to believe you got one over on them. Their was nothing faulty about the saw. You can't blame folks for forming an opinion based off YOUR words.

I've got a Kobalt 40v weedeater and a blower. When I bought it the book said batteries were 3 year "no hassle" warranty. I had a battery die. It had a date stamped on it that showed it was only a little over a year old. It sure wasn't wasn't a no hassle experience. She wanted to see a receipt. I said look it up on my Lowes card. She just couldn't understand that I bought a weedeater and a blower that used that battery. She was looking for where I bought the battery. Battery had a date on it for crying out loud. I did finally get one. I was dang sure ready to talk to the store manager. Had to order a dang string cap for the weedeater. That plastic part is flimsey. They don't sell them at Lowe's either.

I'm not railing on you. Just posting my opinion on a post you started. That's kind of how a forum works. I didn't know you didn't want responses. By the way though, I just read Lowes return policy on their website. I didn't see where it said "no questions asked". There's lots of, "in our discretion" comments.

Dude, do what you want. We aren't buddies, we aren't family, we aren't co-workers, we aren't even acquaintances. Your decisions in no way affect me. You come into a public forum though and keep playing on words, "faulty", "30 day no questions asked", etc...when those things aren't true, and then get pissed off because folks call you out. And you think I'M the crazy one? Whatever man. I'll reserve future comments from your experiences/actions as that's obviously what you wanted.

I'd a took it back, damn cheap built Kobalt crap. Everything Kobalt I've used has broken within days of normal use.

I had a custom knifemaker from SC build me a really nice skinning/general deer use knife with a fine hollow ground blade. Couple of years later I broke it doing something stupid. I ran into him at the Bham Gun show and showed him the blade and asked if he could make me another one for pay. He took the knife and handed me a new one just like it, no charge. I asked if he wanted to know how I broke it, he said it didn't matter!!!!

I usually have a good feel for when I'm prob gonna tear something up, whether it's a cheap product or something I'm working on (lol).
I went through 4 drier vent hoses before I got a new one on and routed outside without tearing it one time. Thank god for a local hardware store.

I usually try to buy stuff that has a lifetime return policy. Because I break stuff. It should matter how it's broke it if has an UNLIMITED lifetime policy.
