I would like to buy and hang one for bow season but no idea how to and don't trust myself to secure it well and then next thing I know I'm layer out on the ground or hanging from the tree I'd be glad to help you and walk you through the steps if that's a way you want to try to hunt. Lock ons are safe if hung properly they're just out of some people's comfort zones. PM me your number if you want to talk.

I hung 3 a couple weeks back with the screw in steps and was whipped. I need to go to sticks...

I hang several every year and can usually hang a stand in 20 minutes or less. For some quick advice, I use an old lineman's harness so both hands are free.

Hung a ladder stand 2 weeks ago in 98+ heat. Took 4 hours to carry it deep into the woods then set it up. Got so many chigger bites I had to go get a steroid shot. Seriously, nearly 200 chiggers

I need someone to come chisel about 10 of my locks out of the trees so I hand them in different locations. I managed to pull one down and it took me almost an hour to get it free. I know it is my fault for leaving them there but it just seems there just isn't ever enough time in the year to do what needs to be done. The next thing you know they are grown into the tree.

It's not as bad as long as you've got someone on the ground helping you. It saves all the climbing up and down. If I had to do it by myself, 3 would have been my limit. I've got a pulley that I ratchet strap to the tree to pull the stands up and hold them in place. That's a huge help. Been doing this a while now and have it down to a science.

I used to struggle with it but my cousin has a tree service and his advice made my treestand hanging much easier. My cousin is like a squirrel and has so much upper body strength he can do it without breaking a sweat. I on the other hand, break many sweats.

Recurve screw-ins are easy if you use a battery drill to put pilot holes in first. They also make a drill attachment that will spin them in. Now I only use one above my ladder to grab getting on and off my stand. I realized that if you slip on a wet one you can get stabbed falling on one. Just too dangerous. It's insane to hang Loc-ons without a lineman's belt. One thing I'll do to stop the up and down when putting stands up is carry a 50' rope. I'm putting the ladder up. I tie one end to my belt. Then every 6 -10" I tied the next thing I'll need to the rope. the last thing is the loc-on. I just pull them up when I need them. One trip up. My racket straps are in a small pack on my back.

I'm going back to screw in steps on all of my lock ons this year. Way easier and safer to me than sticks. I use to hang them in the mornings before daylight. That first time hanging one in the dark was a learning curve. Now, I don't go up the tree but once. Stand on my back and pull up rope tied to my bow. Super quick and easy.

Perch, yeah the linemans belt is a game changer. It's easy to strap around the tree and tighten it if need be. I used a little jig with a t shaped handle that is really sharp and you can jab it in the tree to get a starter hole this year. Made it much quicker. But yeah, a drill is always the easiest, just more to carry

Screw in's easier than sticks??? Now I know without a doubt that you're weird. Lord almighty not to mention the noise Noise? I never made anymore noise than with any other stand. No special tools were needed, either.

Anymore, now that I'm divorce, I'm not climbing many trees ... have switched 2 years ago to completely ground hunting, either in a man-made or store-bought blind ...

If I don't have a drill or jig, I will use the EZYClimb steps to start the hole then actually screw in the others. It is really lazy/cheap of me but I haven't just bought more EZYClimb steps.

Recurve I bought a holster for my drill at Home Depot. Just another thing that makes it easier. The thing about screw in's is I hated to remove them. Then next year they tree has grown over them . In two years there is very little step left.

In two years there is very little step left. Yeah they are a booger to remove. I have one stand on our property I have hunted for several years. I usually shift the stand a few years to keep it from growing in to the tree but the steps are probably in it for good.
