Got a Ranger 519 with a Helix 10 SI at the console and Helix 9 DI up front. The ducer for the 10 is mounted on the jackplate (Transducer Shield mount) and the 9 ducer is mounted on trolling motor (I do not have the built-in US2 Minn Kota). They work fantastically, EXCEPT I get peculiar interference on the front 9 unit. In shallow water ONLY it will give crazy depth readings when you step on the trolling motor. Does not do this in deep water at all, and doesn't do it every time in shallow (but it does "most" of the time).

I called Humminbird and they guessed it might be transducer cross-interference (the two ducers crossing signals), but I'll be honest that doesn't sound right to me. Any ideas???

very well could be cross talk, but you may need to turn down the sensitivity when moving in to shallow water. The units work great, but they do require fine
tuning through the changing depths. to eliminate cross talk, turn your rear unit off and see if the problem disappears.

Anything worth doing, is worth doing right, or it's not worth doing at all!

That was Hbird's advice too.

They told me their transducer would not work on a trolling motor. I had a di dransducer they said take it off and use the built in there is too much interference with today's high powered trolling motors. Did what they said and all is well

There is a LOT of info on this over on Bas Boat Central in the Humminbird Forum. Unfortunately I'm permanently banned over there so y'all will have to look it up yourselves.

I firmly believe that a double gallows should be constructed on the East Lawn of The White House. Politicians who willfully and shamelessly violate their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America should be swiftly tried and, upon conviction, publicly hanged at sunup the day after conviction. If multiple convicts are to be hanged they can choose with whom to share the gallows or names shall be drawn from the hangman's hat to be hanged 2 at a time.

It's from the electrical field set up around the trolling motor. If it was interference between the two, it would happen the entire time they were both on at least to some extent.

Might be able to shield it with some metal but I doubt it.

See, I agree... if it was transducer cross-talk, I don't know why the trolling motor would trigger it. But why won't it do it in deep(er) water??? Once you get over about 5' deep it quits. And it's only the depth reading, no screen issues or stuff like that. I've run a dedicated ground wire from the transducer bracket to the power block too. I'm frustrated with it.

Ben2, my Minn Kota doesn't have the built in ducer. I'm thinking I'll upgrade to the Ultrex over the Winter though, so I'll be sure it does then.
