The timing of it would make you suspect health issues, but that is just speculation on my part. He just signed a big contract and AU committed to big improvements to the ball park so he was getting everything he wanted and he is an old man so............

Not likely. His son had no other option but to leave so there would be no reason to be angry or upset at AU over that. His son was solely responsible for that. The shame of it that if not for his indiscretions causing him to have to resign, he would have likely been named the HC about 5 minutes after Daddy Meyers resigned today.

He thanked the fans and the community, but didn't thank the admin.
He would make a great AD at Auburn.

central ala,
Pure speculation on my part but I think it is has to do with his son not being there to take over. I asked the question on here when son left what does Clint do. I think Clint was through when he left Arizona. Auburn approached him with the job and then Cory takes over in a few years. This was a good move by Auburn that ended up being a GREAT move. It was a good situation for the Myers family also. Win-win. But Cory brought it all down and dad who has been there, done that in baseball and softball had nothing left driving him. And that is assuming Cory did screw up.

Not totally. Auburn softball at this point is more attractive of job than it ever has been. Yea, keeping Myers would have been great for Auburn but he has left it in GREAT shape.

I don't think there is any doubt that he screwed up, no pun intended. Apparently it is the worst kept secret in the world at AU which player he screwed up with. Before anybody asks, I can't recall her name but I know she was a cute reserve infielder that I never recalled playing.

No way to keep him because it violated AU and NCAA Sexual Harassment Policies. In today's PC world of academia the only thing worse he could have done was to admit voting for Trump even though coaches/professors having relations with a athlete/student has been going on since women started in sports.

The "problem" may be that the son had a history of this.

Feel like it has some nasty stuff related to why he retired. Hope thats not the case however. Its one thing for an administration to have problems, but a family within an administration is another thing altogether.

We all try to apply football to other sports because of where we live and love. But this ain't football. Coaches don't bounce around. Alabama, Georgia, Michigan, etc. coaches have been there forever. There is also room for error by the coaches unlike football. But there are teams we consider second tier in football with quality coaches that can be had. If not for health issues, the Rajun Cajun coach would be a prime target. I just feel the SEC has climbed to the top in softball and Auburn has climbed its way near the top in the in the SEC. My personal feelings is hope they never win another game. grin
