It's been mentioned on here before, but I've personally witnessed a bald eagle attempt to snatch a yearling off a greenfield in Jackson county. The eagle just barely missed. Yep, I saw one try it too.

I still prefer a shovel for my fawns.
Same here. Flat shovels work better.

I saw a hawk swoop down and try to grab a hen turkey one time. Was watching a drove in a food plot and suddenly they started to scatter. The hawk grabbed one by the back and got it a few inches off the ground but didn't have a good grip. All he got for his efforts were a talons full of feathers.

I did some trapping on a property earlier this spring that had a big arse lake on it with an eagles nest built on the side of the lake. I didnt think anything about it at first but there was a couple small deer skeletons near the nest on the edge of the lake. When I first saw it I just assumed maybe the ;landowners had dumped a couple carcasses there or something but Ive since thought about it and wondered if it wasnt the eagle taking down small deer. It was in an area thick with deer and the eagle I saw was a big arse bird..a good bit bigger than a buzzard. It looked closer to the size of a turkey.

I had an eagle open his wings about 6 feet away next to a gut pile in Alaska. I about crapped my pants on how big those birds are.
