not many any more, if they do you almost have to know someone to be in the know. but most lease the rights now or don't allow hunting due to liability lawsiuts

I didn't know they did that at all anymore due to the liability. Alabama power used to issue free permits back in the 80's but that's all I ever knew.

Liability lawsuits have nothing to do with it. It's about money - as in they can make more money leasing the land rather than giving out permits.

US Steel had permits as well. There was some very good land where Barber's Motorsports is now back in the day. I hunted it a lot.
