Are the trees away from any trees that you want to save? 2 are oaks i feel are too close to my field lines, and are getting too big for comfort. and I have several big sweetgums elsewhere that have split bases, and just want them gone.

Gly will almost certainly be the cheapest and it will work. Others may work faster but a super strong dose of gly will get it done. I would use just enough water to thin the gly out a bit so the tree can soak it up easily. I don't know if that helps or not but I've never read any gly label that suggested using it straight without diluting it.

Why don't you just cut them down and then spray the stump sprouts when they come up?

From QDMA. https://www.qdma.com/hack-squirt-timber-stand-improvement/Effective Herbicides “All herbicides are effective on a certain number of species,” said Jim, “but fortunately the new ones like Arsenal AC have a wide range of effectiveness and can be used at low concentrations and wider cut spacings. That has been a real plus to this method. With Arsenal AC, we’ve gone to wider spacings, which means a lot less time at the tree and a lot less energy expended.” Arsenal AC calls for one cut per 3 to 4 inches of tree diameter at breast height (DBH). So, a 4-inch diameter tree would need one cut. The mixing rate for Arsenal AC is 10 percent, or one part herbicide to nine parts water. Keep in mind that Arsenal AC is soil active and can injure or kill non-target plants if accidentally spilled or washed off equipment near desirable plants. Two other herbicides used widely for bark injection are Garlon 3A and 2-4,D Amine, although Arsenal AC seems to have the widest range of species effectiveness. With any herbicide, consult the label for a list of species that are killed by the product. Every herbicide is better at killing some species while less effective on others. Also be sure to wear appropriate clothing and protective equipment as recommended by the label.

I wouldn't put Arsenal in any tree close to another tree you want to keep. I would stick with Glyphosate or Garlon in hack and squirt in an area where you have crop trees around you want to save. No movement in the soil with these two. BW knows his stuff on these topics. You won't get a better opinion for free. Take his advice and run with it.

And when you park your truck(even after washing it) in your yard when you come off of a spray run, you can tell how the rain water flows from said truck. Lol

Arsenal or Velpar would be my first choices. But, It all depends on what is nearby the trees you are treating. As has been said, imazapyr as well as Tordon can affect nearby trees you may want to keep. Velpar can also ding desirable trees that are near. Glyphosate isn't my first choice as it has been inconsistent in my work. Garlon and Method are two that could work for your situation, but not necessarily the best on oaks.
If you do the things you need to do when you need to do them then someday you can do the things you want to do when you want to do them.

Polaris $65/quart at the co-op. Same AI as arsenal.

Bwhunter referenced it above. Herbicides like Glyphosate and Garlon are not active in the soil. Herbicides like Arsenal (imazapyr) are active in the soil. If you spray it, a heavy rain could wash it several feet away where it soaks into the soil and ends up killing something you didn't want killed. For maximum protection against accidental kill, use a product that is not soil active.
