I've hunted public land turkeys in Missouri. My experience is that it's similar to other states in that hunting pressure will be greater on the weekends. I'd plan to hunt during the week if I could.
My second tip is to give lots of thought to where you plan to hunt. A WMA with lots of food plots near a big city will attract lots of hunters. A national forest in the middle of nowhere will have less traffic. Don't overlook other public lands too. You need to have a plan A, B, C, and D if you're traveling that far to hunt.

I'd consider yellow bank KY for a place to hunt. Austin, an aldeer member, took me there for a few days and it was fun. Some monsters been killed there.
