How does your club handle this? Do members get a couple of extra weeks, a payment plan, fines, pink slips?

Fines imposed & the people on the waiting list are contacted.

First one to put $$$ in hand fills the spot.

Start taking time away from them to hunt.

You have to have a deadline and stick to it. Hardships come up sometimes for people but other than that, they have a whole year to put the money back.

Dues due by X date. If member knows wont have them in by then he needs to contact someone and let them know ahead of time and work it out.

30 days past the X due date start taking in people off the waiting list to fill the unpaid spots.
Do that for a year or two and everyone will make sure they are paid by that time or have worked out arraignments and not show up Oct 1 with a check in hand wanting to pay their dues.


I see clubs going to earlier dues dates for this reason. Seems like it used to be all late july and august for dues. Now I know of 2 that theirs are due at tax time and several who do it in May.

We moved our due date up to March 31. It used to be June 1 with payment to the timber co due in July. We had members every year wait until they were delinquent and were called for payment to inform that they had joined another club and would not be getting back in. By that time it was hard to recruit new members because the majority had already joined clubs. We have no problem filling their spot if payment is not received by March 31.

we have a deadline but i also work with people bc most of the people in my club can't pay all at once. the person in charge needs to use alittle discretion for certain situations, however, if youre in a big dog club and everyone has money then theres no reason for them to be late

First come first served.

Deposits are due in March for the upcoming year to be able to vote on club matters. My club charges late fee of $100/month after May 31st. If dues are not paid in full by August 31st you lose your spot.

I don't see the logic behind charging a late fee for those who can't afford the base price. If he hasn't paid by a certain date, his spot get's marketed first come, first serve.

Deposit by march and paid in full by may 31st. Our memberships run from June 1st-may 31st.

Just weeded a friend of mine out for this very reason. I told him several times what the dues would be and when they were due. He calls me 12 days after the deadline wanting to know how much he owes and when it's due. I simply asked him how much did I tell you to pay and when was it due? If people don't care anymore about hunting than this then they either need to hunt public land or find a new hobby. Honestly don't you think people would realize going into a lease that the money will be due at the same time the next year again and maybe you should save money for the payment?

And it's usually the same guys every year.

There's only 3 paying members in our little club so we never have to deal with this. 20 years now and not a single issue.

Now there are only 3 paying members of our little club ( 730 acres with my dad, wife and,I ).

Sometimes it's just better to pay more and not deal with others.

Clubs have to have the money on time ,,, the lease
folks wanna get paid and know some one will.

Our lease is due on July 1st so we have a deadline of May 15th to pay. If we have a member thats having a hard time paying for some reason we'll give them a little extra time if they let us know they're intentions and use our planting money to pay the lease if we have too and its never been a problem.

Dues by July 1 or we go to someone on the waiting list. No exceptions. Especially when 2 of us are paying more out of pocket than other members.
