'make it easier to transition quarters'. I'd be peeing off the fantail, then. Wonder if everyone has to sit down to piss??

I have it on very good authority that the entire ship is a disaster and nearly none of the vital systems work correctly in sea trials. It's lighter, WAY faster, and doesn't work, for the most part.

It should be noted that Gerald Ford recently underwent Builder's Trials...to ensure stability, acceleration/deceleration, turning radius, etc. is as designed. She was built to be faster, lighter, and less crew-heavy than previous CVN's, and is carrying a boatload of brand new technology and changes/upgrades from the rest of the Nimitz-class ships, including electromagnetic catapults, vs the old steam cats, purpose-built (heretofore non-existent) phased array radar systems, etc. Bugs during builder's trials and sea trials are expected. They still have 3 more years to iron them out before the ship enters active service, and she will undergo more sea trials between now and then.

Back in the early 80's, I was stationed on an old 180' buoy tender, built in 1942. It didn't have urinals, either...

That ship was designed about 15-20 years ago.

Thank you, Clayne, for serving. You and anybody that's ever been on a military ship will appreciate all the extra room that can be had. Sitting on a toilet to piss will not extract testosterone from our sailors. They don't schit standing up, do they?

I firmly believe that a double gallows should be constructed on the East Lawn of The White House. Politicians who willfully and shamelessly violate their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America should be swiftly tried and, upon conviction, publicly hanged at sunup the day after conviction. If multiple convicts are to be hanged they can choose with whom to share the gallows or names shall be drawn from the hangman's hat to be hanged 2 at a time.

Homeported at Base Mobile. She was decommissioned in '90, and is still serving today as a platform for the USN salvage & recovery teams in Norfolk....they run her aground, then pull her off...run her aground, then pull her off. There was a show about them on Discovery, or AHC, or whatever a couple years back, and there was the ol' Salvia, looking mighty rough, but still doing her thing, after all these years!

I did boot in 80 in Alameda, Ca., then on the Salvia through most of 81. Went to QM/SM school at NTC Orlando, then to Base San Juan, PR. From there back to the Salvia in early 83, then working for NAVSPECWAR in Little Creek until 85.
