Dog decided she was mad that we shut our room door when we went to work, came home to a hole torn in the carpet outside my door. I'll probably cut out a 1.5'x6" piece and replace it. I watched YouTube videos today and it looks pretty easy and straightforward. Anyone done it?

Nope, but it probably won't match as good as you hope

If it's a frezy or plush carpet is much easier to patch and make look right. Is touching other carpet or does it transition to another flooring on the other side of the door?

It's thick carpet that looks like super short yarn, maybe about 1/8-1/4" high. It's dark with various shades of brown that I think will be easy to blend. It meets carpet on the other side of the door.

Yup, took some from closet and patched near door because my dog did the same thing in my last house when it was new. Got carpet tape from a carpet store and it was good enough.

You'll be able to see the patch if that's what your asking, especially if you do it yourself. Take a square from a closet and try it out.

Remove a patch of carpet from a closet, or some other out of the way place. Cut the destroyed piece out. Use destroyed piece to beat the schit out of the dog. Replace the carpet with the good piece. Show it to the dog and dare him to tear another piece up. laugh

Maybe to you and slayer, but his wife will see it as soon as opens the front door. She will talk about it til hardwoods are Installed.

Probably but I have seamed a good bit of carpet and as long as you cut the patch the right way, and lay it where the nap is the same, and make sure you have seam tape all the way around it, it won t be that noticeable. Now that's as long as it is more of a shag type carpet.Any kinda tight knit you might as well tear it all up and lay something else. You gonna have to start at one corner with the iron melting the glue on the tape and heat and push down on one side at a time so the glue adheres good.Dont try and run over all the tape with the iron then try and make the whole piece stick. Also when you get done bump all around where it's seamed with a hammer lightly then after it dries get you a dull knife or something and kinda pick at the knits and kinda fluff em.You can make it dang near unnoticeable if you do it right with the right carpet.

It's a rental, so she doesn't give a chit. I'm patching it so it doesn't come out of my security deposit lol

And this is the problem with letting someone rent your property. They don't give a chit and don't take care of it the correct way.

Huh? This is the correct way. If it doesn't look as good as new, I'll have the carpet replaced. I'd rather try to patch it than to go ahead and bust out the big bucks. I take responsibility for what I or things I own (dog) do.
