If y'all were to build your "perfect rod" what specs and feature would you want it to have?

For example foam or cork handles, what action action, speed, etc?

That's like asking what the perfect gun is. I own and regularly use dozens of rods, very few are alike. What will you be using the rod for?

Rods are tools just as you don't use the same screwdriver for all jobs. No rod is perfect for everything. Not to mention I like mine a little on the heavy side to drive the hook. Many prefer theirs on the whippy side.

I'd take a look at the Hammer Rods. I really like the Winn grips. They're light as a feather. Good backbone but nice tip. They run a little light for what they're rated, i.e. a heavy is more like a medium-heavy and an extra heavy is like a heavy. Plus they're made in the USA. They have the microguides. You might or might not like that.
I've bought 3 in last couple of months, 2 baitcasters and a spinning. My brother went all goo-goo over the spinning rod on that trick worm trip the other day. Said it was nicest rod he'd ever fished.
I'm gradually trading all my rods for Hammers. They just came out with a new dropshot rod.

Yeah, I guess I should have been a little more specific.

I like to fish mainly worms, and prefer a medium heavy. I have a Loomis E6X that I really like, and just bought a Duckette Ghost that I have yet to fish. The Duckette is lighter that the Loomis, but doesn't seem quite as sensitive. The Loomis has a cork split grip handle that I have come to prefer over the foam on the Duckette

What I'm really wondering about is handle material, eyelette size/material

Lots of different opinions on materials. I like foam split grips for MH worm rod. Graphite will be lighter and more sensitive than glass. I don't love or hate Micro guides, leader knots don't go through them as easy as regular guides if that matters. I like 7-7'3" MH. Longer rods cast farther and provide better hook sets, shorter rods are a little more accurate and skip easier. My favorite model would be a Phoenix M1 or Okuma Helios, far better than the duckett and loomis's I've used.

Hey, bud. I'll check with a fishing pal. He has wrapped 12 or 15 rods in the past couple of years.
Or, you can talk to him. He's as crazy as any on this board, but wouldn't mind taking a break from re-modeling a place he bought here at Martin.
