I used to fish hellbenders a lot. Being a kid with a lakehouse, two uncles that tournament fished, and a lot of tackle at my disposal made me grow up quick. Them hellbenders killed my arms.

My dad has a huge box full of mudbugs. I honestly don't know that I've ever thrown one.

Mudbugs account for a lot of Tx wins in Texas. Especially on T-bend where there are stump flats out the middle of the lake. I have a boxs full of Big Ones and medium ones. They root thru stumps great.

When I was a kid, my old man was stationed at ft polk. The army had a rec area on T-bend. We'd camp there several times a summer. Those stump flats are prob the standing timber we used to tie up in and crappie fish at night. Cool memories.

The harder I practice, the luckier I get.

Interesting. That's probably why he's got a box full of them. He fished Toledo extensively in the 70's and early 80's before I came along.
