I love the beach and everything about it. I don't like crowds so I pick beaches that have no people on them to speak of. We were on a gorgeous white sand beach on the weekend of Independence Day and the traffic jam at the stop sign for the main intersection was four cars deep and took 45 extra seconds to navigate. We caught three redfish and 10 whiting in the surf. On a 400 yard stretch of beach, there were five people other than us. We did have three drunk twentysomethings in skimpy bikinis walk by griping about no one being on "that crappy beach" and planning their next trip to PCB so they could "get more action". Mrs. Geno laughed, I pointed out the one with butt dimples was kind of cute, Mrs. Geno's neighbor who went with us just stared at us with his mouth open. We were seventy yards from the truck, had a few sections of 1.5" pvc driven into the sand - one for the massive umbrella and two for fishing poles. We hid under the umbrella, sipped adult beverages and had a nice picnic during the heat of the day and we played in the water and collected shells and sand dollars early and late when the sun had no real power. We set the rod holders where I could go out in the sun and cast and then come back under the umbrella to watch the rod tips. As the sun winked out, I could hear something crashing bait 50 yards or so out and I cast a skitterwalk out in that direction. Whatever it was spooled me in about 30 seconds and I had to clamp down on the spool to make the line break. Some of the folks on that beach had caught tarpon in the 100lb range the day before.
We were at a different beach yesterday afternoon where we found a couple dozen horshoe crabs, a bazzillion hermit crabs, a few shells and a bunch of specks. There were about ten people there when we arrived and about half that when we left.
Whoever is happy will make others happy too. Anne Frank

Hate the beach in summer and the crowds. Don't care for the beach much of anytime, to be honest.

It ain't just PCB and Gulf Shores.... Charleston, Myrtle, and Wilmington become a mad house in the summer. Thankfully the good eating fish don't run until fall or spring. I can do the beach as long as I'm fishing. Other than that I don't have much for it. I can see bikinis on the river or at the pool. Too damn hot anyhow. There's thousands of miles of coast/beach on the Atlantic and Gulf . There are plenty of places that aren't crowded by PCB and Gulf Shores standards , cheaper too. Good lawd, that area is some kinda pricey .

Can't stand it. My idea of a nice weeklong summer vacation is getting a cabin in western NC, and enjoy 60 degree nights with the windows open. Y'all can have that mess down there.

My son and his family used to go to the beach every summer. Rent something for the 5 of them and spend too much money during the week (IMHO) and then fight the traffic back to Guntersville. For the last 3 years they've gone to deer camp where they have a nice camper, 2 creeks to play in/fish in, ride the 4 wheelers for miles and miles, historic sites in the area to check out and they can have an awesome camp fire at night and shoot guns in the daytime. Both of my little Granddaughters caught their first fish in Indian Creek and it's on video. The DIL wasn't too keen on it the first year but she sees the value now and everybody loves the outing.
I firmly believe that a double gallows should be constructed on the East Lawn of The White House. Politicians who willfully and shamelessly violate their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America should be swiftly tried and, upon conviction, publicly hanged at sunup the day after conviction. If multiple convicts are to be hanged they can choose with whom to share the gallows or names shall be drawn from the hangman's hat to be hanged 2 at a time.

I would much rather go to the beach when school is in. The problem with that though is that I would be by myself. Now I don't mind being by myself a lot of the time, but a family beach trip wouldn't be one of those times.
Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

I don't like the beach in July. I don't like it Jan-June or August-December either.

We did Hilton Head in October 2015 and it was great, actually. I truly don't like the beach but that beach is flat, hard and not sticky crapsand like the Gulf. Brush it off and go. Crowds were nonexistent and condo rates were great. The Holiday Inn Sunspree was advertising $93 a night.

Yup, not my favorite place in the summer.

I don't like the beach in July. I don't like it Jan-June or August-December either. It's cuz yer truck's too full of goop to carry the needed equipment.

We went in June and I said the same thing. We've had lots of fun going down for the 4th of July in the past though, I can't complain. I like going to the beach in September once the football season starts and the kids are all back in school, you don't have to wait at the restaurants either

This is why folks pay twice as much to go to 30A.... Less crowds and traffic. And no high rises. You should have seen it when I was a kid living there in the seventies. We lived at the corner of 30A and 98 in Inlet Beach and there was nothing much from one end to the other. I remember the day that Seaside was first started being developed. I couldn't at that time understand why anyone wanted to be way out here. From 1970 to 2006 when we sold out and today I still can't believe how much that area has grown. My daddy always knew it was going to happen so we bought would could back then anticipating a nice return someday.

The in laws own a place at PCB so we have the opportunity to go several times a year, through many of the different seasons. It's just like any other touristy area, bad crowded unless you know where to go and where not to go. NEVER, under any circumstances, go to Walmart. That place always looks like Black Friday, regardless of what time of the day you go.

I love my place on the forgotten coast! It does get a little crowded on the big holidays but nothing like the major beach towns. My closest Wal Mart is 45 miles away and there is zero traffic.

Last time I was in PCB was summer of 1989, 18 years old just out of HS with 7 of my buddies. Stayed at the Days Inn, it was 3 floors and cost us a arm and a leg. We had 2 rooms and they charged us the nightly rate per person (the guys we sent in to pay for the rooms told them how many of us there was, DA's). You could see the beach from the road, McDonalds had Big Macs buy 1 get 1 free, I met a blonde from Louisiana who I spent the whole week with and we got just enough of the deposit back split between the 8 of us that my buddy and I had enough to put gas in the truck and buy something to eat about Gasden when we knew we had enough gas to get home. Best week ever and not been back. Are you Kenny Chesney? You pretty much lived the song "Anything but mine," and you're from Cleveland.
