It's absolutely pitiful. The crazy thing in my house the 18year old relies on heavily on a calculator and my 12 year can give you the answer to simple math quicker then the calculator. The 12 year old loves math and excels at it.
The secret to a long marriage is to keep on dating, just as you did before marriage. We have "date night" once a week. Hers is Saturday, mine is Thursday.
The only time a married woman gives those is if your not married to them!

Appears they spend more time teaching social justice than they do math
May we all die in bed at 95, shot by a jealous spouse

I was a high school math teacher and coach for 35 years. The reason they cannot add and subtract any more is because they have technology that will do it for them. They are not training and conditioning the brain to reason. In my last five years, smart boards came in to use, cell phones for school lessons were allowed, along with other technology and new learning principles. I allowed none of this in my classroom. I was "bucked" by the administration at first, but was quickly praised when my math students scored considerably higher on FCAT, and EOC, state tests. Although some may disagree; When you walk in my classroom, you are going to see a piece of chalk in my hand and an old fashioned black board, and good old fashion discipline. It still works! Oh, and for most students, I don't see how they can learn math online. I know I needed a teacher present to answer questions for me. Just my opinion based on many years in the classroom.

Good job, Coach Peach! My wife was a kindergarten teacher and we argued often about the way her school taught math. They do indeed need to be taught to reason, but before that happens it's gotta be old style rote memorization. Many kids today have never been made to memorize the multiplication tables.

Walton county........I stopped in Freeport a couple of years ago at Hardees for a quick breakfast and it was $4.25, I handed her a $5.00 bill and a quarter. She had to go get the manager to figure it out. John, that is exactly where I was at, except I was on the store side...

A teacher literally does not have to leave their desk to teach anymore. (and I saw this in many classrooms)
