I posted in general forum but didn't get a lot of help. What's the going rate ($/hr) for a 6-pack boat these days leaving out of Niceville or Destin? I also assume tips will be around 20%, is that still right?

I guess six pack refers to the type of license (OUPV) that is required for the charter boat captains. They are allowed to carry 6 passengers plus the crew, and I think the boat has to be less than 100 tons.

For a nice boat and a good captain $200 per hour. With that being said I'm sure you can find cheaper.

A 6 pack boat is a uncertified boat, basically any boat can be a 6 pack boat. Funny inside joke is the Coast Guard with let you kill 6 people but not 7. I have 2 six pack boats and 2 certified boats. Let me tell ya the certified boats go thru a 86.5 point inspection that last several hours each year by the CGs. Its the most stressful time of my year before the inspection. The six pack boats need life jackets and flairs pretty much the same as your bass boat.

Since when did a bassboat require flares? News to me. Sound device yes.

Thomas Jefferson. The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

the way I read it they do. I didn't know that either. "Daytime visual distress signal" required for boats 16-26'.

Visual Distress Signals (Flares)
Visual Distress Signals (VDSs) allow boat operators to signal for help in the event of an emergency. VDSs are classified as day signals (visible in bright sunlight), night signals (visible at night) or both day and night signals. VDSs are either pyrotechnic (smoke and flames) or non-pyrotechnic (non-combustible).

Visual distress signal (Coastal Waters, the Great Lakes &
U.S. owned boats on the high seas) Not bass boats on lakes, or inland waterways.

6 Pack First level of captains license to carry paying passengers. Has absolutely nothing to do with the boat. Some have a towing endorsement on their license as well. Commecial vessels do have a different level of inspection requirements than pleasure boats operating in coastal waters.

Fishing, call Clara the manger of Port St Joe's marina and ask her who's catching fish. Mexico Beach is a laid back town and wonderful place to visit. Lady J Charters (850) 227-1200 is a good one if you can't get in touch with Clara. Doghouse Charters(850) 527-9530 is another good one and less expensive than Lady J. They also run a head boat out of there if your just looking for some cheap fishing fun.
