Get the treewalker. It's been around and proven. Made by a family in the USA.

Just fyi, buckshot stands is back up and running. Buckhorn isn't the exact same thing, although very similar. I've purchased locks and now a seat back assembly from buckhorn for my older equalizer stand, so can't say anything bad about them, but the original buckshot/equalizer manufacturer is back up and running so that may also open other options for stands like the 2 you listed. http://www.buckshotmfg.com

I spoke with both him and buckhorn outdoors at
The recent big buck expo here in tampa/Lakeland. He had some choice words for buckhorn outdoors, but I took it with a grain if salt. There was a void when buckshot went away and buckhorn filled it.

My dad has 2 of the buckhorn stands he purchased last year. Only sat it in once this past season and felt just like the other buckshots I've sat in,so that's a good thing. To me,they're the most comfortable and stable stand out there.

I can't imagine being much more comfortable in a climber than what you can be in a treewalker promag xl. It's not the lightest stand you'll ever carry around but with a set of molly straps it's not bad at all.

i have two treewalker promag xls. I love them. Very comfortable. Easy to climb. They really grab the tree. They are a little heavy to carry but that is only negative.

Thanks....short a vehicle and time, so may not get to the show. Was hoping to get there AND hoping to see stands and such. I have gotten zero response to emails and phone calls to TreeWalker, so that's frustrating. The leveling is cool, but I think that the listed 25-29#s is way heavier than the 18/19 for the tree walker, and not sure the leveling outweighs the other features the TreeWalker has. Looks like the TreeWalker packs better, and something that packs/carries well can get away with a little more weight, anyway. I don't mind weight that's for s purpose and packs well.

Thanks for the input. I just don't keep up with the latest/greatest in deer gadgetry like I used to. I do remember the original buckdhots, though I never had one.

I own a ProMagXl. I previously owned API's made in America. The Tree walker climbs and sits great. It is lighter than the API's by a long shot. I paid more for the simple reason I don't trust stands made or using parts made outside the USA. You can only fall once and you are either crippled or killed. Several years ago a bunch of Alabama hunters fell due to faulty pins on Chinese made Ol'man stands.

TreeWalker or Lone Wolf made in USA and solid light construction. Summit is foreign and Goliath is heavier than Treewalker or Lone Wolf.

The quietest stand to use is a Lonewolf not as comfy as others but very quiet. The Treewalker's are long and awkward to carry but are very comfy. Summit's are comfy but not very quiet.

I own two treewalkers. They are the best stands out there.

I bought and quickly sold a lone wolf sit and climb. I had read so many good things about it on here that I thought buying a LW stand was a slam-dunk good purchase. Boy was I wrong. That stand has to the most unsafe, rickety, claustrophobic dang thing ever invented. The treewalker is practically welded to the tree when you hook it on the LW wants to fall to your feet and try to kill your ass with the slightest bump. Plus you are essentially making out with the bark of the tree as you climb since the climb bar doesn't protrude out from the tree at all. And there is zero room for a big boy to sit when you get it set up (I got the one with a flip up seat).

I understand the need to be quiet and sneaky, but I can't swallow those positives when I feel unsafe in the stand. Just my two cents.

Not sure why you had a problem w your LW unless a knockoff or out of USA model for the year or so they were foreign. A made in USA LW is solid against the tree unless you don't follow the directions. If you don't unlock the knob, raise the bar, and retighten, you will lose stability in bottom because not using right. Never had a problem. I'm 300 lbs and it's always solid against the tree. Never had to worry it would slide off the tree plus the upper and lower sections are connected in case as all climbers are. Definitely agree w you on width issue which is why I got the wide sit and climb and don't have that issue. I didn't know about Treewalker until Perch told me about them. Definitely better as $50-100 cheaper & wider than LW. Of the 2 I'll give TW slight edge but listed both because both good.. However had to buy accessory seat to be comfortable in TW. My favorite is LW sticks and hang on.

I vote for the buckshot. You have a rail around you the entire time your climbing. Your not having to sit on a padded bar with nothing behind you while your climbing, like with all these other stands. Austin treestands has stands just like the buckshot.

I agree with blumsden. I've never been keen on having to sit on that bar while climbing. Heavily prefer my buckshot/equalizer over any other climber. You can even get the original buckshots again. They're back up and running

If my treewalker broke, was stolen, blew up, caught fire or was destroyed by aliens.... I would buy another one, that night.

I would climb any tree, at any height with that stand!

My Treewalker does not have a padded bar to sit on and there is a rail all the way around. There are actually two rails if the rest rail is attached (I removed mine).

I work for Buckhorn. I did some online reviews of their stands and the owner saw the reviews and offered me a job.

I can tell you that if you like the Equalizer and Buckshot stuff we have Stands that are almost identical and come from the same factory and are made with the same machines....one major difference is the way we do business.

The guy that many of you have spoken with married Tom's (Original Buckshot Owner) widow.

I won't bash him but will say that Tom was a class act (RIP) The new guy Bill doesn't even hunt and although he is taking deposits on stands he currently doesn't have any inventory. The extremely limited inventory that he does have was manufactured nearly 10 years ago.

Although Barbara's new husband Bill Has launched an extremely aggressive smear campaign against us, the Hunting and Fishing industry is a 76 BILLION annual industry and big enough for everyone. We sincerely wish him the very best of luck.

If any of you want to come by my house I will give you a full demonstration and let you try any of our stands out and demonstrate all the features.

We will absolutely stand behind our stands and let our products and business ethics do the talking for us.

If you liked your old Buckshot stands, you will absolutely love ours...we guarantee it. If you don't send it back and we will pay the shipping and give you a 100% refund (after you have used it up to 30 days).

That all sounds about right honolua. The guy at the "original" buckshot booth didn't strike me as much of hunter. I've dealt with the buckhorn guys a few times and been pleased every time. Two stands my dad got from them last year are up to par with the other buckshots.

Thanks for the replies. I'm not big on hunting facing the tree. The tree is my back cover. I'm not sure about the extra mechanicals, either? Might be the greatest thing ever, but I just want reliable, comfortable, easy to use and pack.

Almodux, where you live buddy? I have most of the Buckhorn stands here at the house. You are more than welcome to come by and try them all out. Same invite for anyone else that reads this.

I honestly don't see how anyone would ever use another after trying ours. They are that good.

I'll never know, cause I'll never pay $400 for a climbing treestand.

I am in Odenville (Margaret) at the moment but will be moving to the farm in Gadsden soon. It's easy to come here if you are at Bass Pro.

We have a stand in the sub-$300 range:
https://www.buckhornoutdoorproducts.com/product-category/double-00/

If I had a $5 bill for every time someone sees this stand and says, "I have (however many) of them things in the woods right now, and they are the best stands I have ever hunted out of."

I have one of them at the house too and I am happy to let you climb in it as well.
