The NCAA has been in town for 3 years digging into just about every nook, cranny and crevice. The NCAA found out about some free t-shirts and a kid sleeping on a couch. They would have for sure found some evidence of hookers for recruits during this time.
Nutt was brought down by phone records and FOIA. Probably 120+ of the Div I coaches are smart enough to have a burner or some fall back plan.

Hugh Freeze just took a dump all over his legacy. He set his family up for ridicule. He's got 3 daughters that have to step out in their very public lives and that isn't going to be easy. Good, Bad or Indifferent it's a lot different when you are running around preaching integrity, legacy and whatever other B.S. he could whistle through those rat teeth of his.

I think Dustin's right. They'd have found something involving recruits in the last 3-4 years if that was going on with all the digging and such. If it happened, one of the recruits who got immunity probably would have said something.

NCAA was wanting a total of 36 scholarships and 3 years bowl ban, not sure what they will end up with now.

They wont give them the death penalty but it is definitely not going to be just a slap on the wrist. The reason this investigation has taken as long as it has, without sanctions imposed, is because it has become a treasure trove of allegations and violations. From what I'm hearing, everytime they think they are winding it up, something like this or the NFL draft fiasco comes out and low and behold it takes off into yet another unexplored direction. It wouldnt shock me to see 30+ schollys and a 3+yr bowl ban. Watch for a mass exit of players when the penalties do come down later this year. Reb football will be in the toilet for some time to come as a result of this.

I suspect more and more and more is gonna come out regarding OM and the things they've done to get players. Y'all remember when Nmendeechee (however it's spelled) announced on signing day that he was going to OM? Everyone was shocked... why OM? With what Freeze has now done, it makes all those big recruiting snags over the years very suspect........

Ain't no suspect to it. The first time they started signing multiple bigstudplayers, everyone knew. It was only a matter of time.

He got greedy. You go after one or two, get them in, build slowly, etc. You don't sign a gaggle of them 2-3 years in a row and not get the red flags waving at the NCAA offices.

Freeze turned into Frankie Carbone from Goodfellas. He got greedy and showy and bought the furs and Cadillacs and strutted around under the protection of God while being part of the dark side. Now Freeze is hanging in the meat locker.

We all know some recruiting violations and some illegal benefits occurred by boosters and lower level coaching staff. No doubt and punishment fitting the violations is appropriate.

But the sentiment that Ole Miss couldn't get high level recruits without paying high school players to sign or some top secret cash system in place once they enrolled is in my opinion, unfounded, and seems like pride getting in the way of facts. Some school other than the expected schools doing well...some people can't stand.

Freeze and his staff were excellent recruiters. Ole Miss has a lot to offer as far as school and campus life. Play in SEC west against best competition in the nation, play early, path to NFL, etc... And that has nothing to do with cheating. We've all seen schools make coaching changes and see immediate huge upswings in recruiting. Some people have it.

Ole Miss rule breaking: Stupid, wrong and unnecessary. We'll get punished severely. Did Freeze really promote this culture or turn a blind eye? None of us really actually know. More truth will eventually come out on this.

Freeze and the escorts...well I'll be honest-I'm very very disappointed. I don't know what is true or speculation but the truth will eventually come out too. If any of the allegations are true, he damaged his family, players and the University...and he needed to leave.

Freeze is a Christian. Freeze is also a sinner, like we all are. His dark secrets are his sin nature left unchecked and unchanged. Simply wrong on many levels. Some people though are loving, seriously giddy, that a professed Christian rival coach who publicly shares his faith has stumbled and fallen. I think that is shameful and wrong thinking. Don't get me wrong...no excuse for the wrongdoing by Freeze, but enjoying someone's downfall is 100% pathetic.
