Several good videos about it. I watched a bunch and got all excited and went and tried at my place, too grassy. [video:youtube] https://youtu.be/m86CYesrgoE[/video] Sounds like your not doing it right. You can swim them through grass, over grass if its thick or matted, or at the edge of the deepest grass.

Keep it light. Stick to jig trailers that come through grass like rage menace or skinny dippers. Pump it every now and again to give the skirt some activity. I never let mine stop. It's a reaction bite and you don't want a bass to get a real good look at it. I will target grass edges first and then look for sparse grass to probe then if all else fails I just drag it over the tops and let it fall into pockets and pull it right back out. I like to keep it where I can see it.

I keep three colors on if that's what I'm throwing. Black and blue, white, and white/chartreuse. Mostly in 1/4oz with a few in 3/8.

Thanks for the help guys. Do any of you ever fish it around anything other than grass? Rip/Rap, roadbeds, shallow wood?
I've got plenty of confidence baits, just trying to add another element of catching fish to the game.
Ya'll are just overthinking it now

Yes, all of those. Grass, rock, wood, shoreline wood-trees-brush, flooded brush, just about anywhere that I can throw a buzzfrog, buzzbait or spinnerbait.
I'm a fan of a 3/8 or 1/4. I like my dad's jigs but will fish anything, and also like the Dirty Jigs and Booyah Baby Boo Bug. But I'll try anything. I'd rather have a head that's streamlined. Not a fan of the flat triangular heads but they may work for you. They supposedly slide through/over vegetation well. I just don't care for them.
I stick with black/blue or white, with matching trailers. Usually a Baby Paca Craw or SK Rage Craw -- something with movement of the claws. For for a slimmer and faster presentation, a swimbait like the little Skinny Dipper or a 3-inch curltail grub. The Kalins grubs have a really good tail but the body is thick; I'll bite a 1/4-inch off the grub, maybe more, to get the back end of the tail to fit on the hook and have enough movement. Have tried grubs, worms, swimbaits to see what works.
I don't always dye the tail or use scent, but I think it could help with visibility in clear water. The scent may help them hang on for another couple of seconds, but usually when they hit it, they commit.
Don't fart around on the hookset. Put the steel to them.
If you need a hands-on showing, I'll come down and play golf and fish. LOL

You think tworms and crigs only produce 5 bites all day? I suggest you are throwing each in the wrong places. Larry Nixon once said the Crig could catch every fish from a school. I've seen more tx big bass caught on them than anything else. Think about it You can cast it into 5' of water and retieve it thru all depths till it's back to the boat. Whether you are sitting in 5' or 30'. To fish a trick worm all day you need several things. Shade either docks or over hanging trees. It skips well. It Loves overcast days.

I was being facetious about the swimjig being a 5 fish bait.
