One of my bows is a Hoyt Spyder 34 set @ 62lbs and I shoot a 502gr FMJ 340 (29in @ 11.3gpi, 50gr insert, 125gr broadheads) super high FOC and they hit like Thor's hammer. Penetration is no problem with this setup.

I'm considering a setup pretty much just like that except 65-70 draw weight. Also - did the bow noticeably quiet down after changing to that heavy arrow weight?

I don't have a chrono so i'm not sure on exact fps but I had to drop 3 tapes lower on the Tommy Hogg from my previous setup (420gr) to accommodate the heavier arrow. Real world difference of about 6in more drop @ 50yds. Really clean arrow flight and semed to tune easier with the heavier arrow and is absolutely as quiet as a mouse fart.

Very cool - thanks for the info No prob, happy to share it. If you ever wanna try a heavier arrow without spending money or making permanent changes to any arrows just cut you a length of weed eater line and drop in your arrow. You can add 100gr easily with a full arrow length piece. Fun, cheap way to fine tune your arrow weights before investing in full blown arrow build.

Im elk hunting with a 60lb Chill X this time. what's your total arrow weight? Roger. I was gonna up the weight but, with only a 10fps difference in my bows I'm gonna stay put. Killed elk so far so, I'm ready to see what happens. 450 grains, GT Kinetic with 125 gr Magnus Buzzcuts Correction: My total arrow weight is 475 grains!
