Hard to tell but I believe it's an Allison. Not sure cause it kind of resembles a hydrasport super v. But if it's an Allison there ain't many people that I know can't drive that boat the way that boat is designed to be driven. You have to drive an Allison, ain't nothing about what he's doing considered driving.

HEVI, I thought you were supposed to know Boats???? It isn't any kind of HydraSport. They ALL had a lightning bolt on the side. It may be some sort of Allison, but I don't think so. I can't remember a boat marked like that. probably one built out West.

I can't remember what kind of boat it is, but that sounds right. Definitely NOT an Allison or Gambler. I do know he was running a 225 ProMax on it.

I met this guy about 3 or 4 years ago. He came to a buddy of mine's house to buy a 260 Mercury from him, to put on this same boat. The deal was pretty much made, when he started talking about this incident, and admitted that it was him in the video. My buddy pulled me over to the side and asked me if I would be comfortable with selling him the motor, and I said "hell no". He told the guy he couldn't sell him the motor.

Dude was actually a nice guy, from somewhere over in Mississippi, if I remember correctly. He just had no business trying to run a boat like that...and apparently hadn't learned his lesson.

The video has been out for a while. I first saw it on BBC. I believe the boat is a Legend. Not an Allison. I have been around and in many Allisons. They do not like a lot of trim and that is what get ppl in trouble driving these boats. I had one well over 80 couple years ago with little driving effort. Disclaimer though, you can over drive them like most do.

May be a legend, never seen an older one. I've only worked on one that patt Kelly owned and it was a super piece of crap. It doesnt really resemble an Allison but on the other hand, doesn't resemble anything to me really, that's why I said Allison. But it damn sure ain't no triton. And Norris craft is what I was trying to think of, not hydrasport.

Merc pro sport 260hp is the engine yes. We sold Wilson loyd an Allison with a pro sport on it one time. We never even cranked the engine before pulling the powerhead to change the port timing, and several other things. After the mods, that boat would run as fast as a person could drive it. We did 106mph in it with two people, a full tank of gas, 3 batteries and a 24 volt trolling motor, as well as the boat full of rods and tackle.

My old boss used to race a light weight Allison hull he had darris make for him. I can't remember exact weight, something like 700ish pounds. The boat had a Johnson gt200 on it, sitting on a 15" midsection with a v8 gt300 trim unit. That boat would fly. He has the pictures of it hanging on his wall in his office.

Them old motors came from the factory basically a racin motor an you could mess withem some kinda way..vapor paths maybe somethin to do with the intake,not rememberin off hand but you could doit yourself an ad bout an extra 40hp to an already powerful motor kinda like turnin the fuel up on a 12 valve..weather its a 2.5 or a 3.2 idk but all them old motors would absolutely scream aaand that aint countin the folks that bored the motor over. Seems like the popular combo back in the day was a 20xd bullet an a 3.2L 300hp. I know thats where i saw my first one was pushin a bee colored bullet an he had to be doin a hundred miles an hour. Looked like you jumped on a mustard bottle with both feet.

Yes he is but there is one hell of a waiting list. He has the old hydrostream molds also from what I have read.

I think the only Hydrostream molds Chub has are the Venom molds. Beautiful boat that will haul the mail, but not very useful except for riding or racing.

I can agree with that. MOST folks either do not know the rules of the water or refuse to follow them. Being able to travel 40-50mph allows me to run 10-15miles to a marina for drinks, snacks, or gas and not use all of my fishing time. It also allows me to fish the river section or the deep lake section of a reservoir. If the lower end is full of wake boats I'll run 15-25 north to get away. Not everyone wants to fish within 1-2mi of the ramp, that's all you can do with a 20hp motor.

Interstates and major roadways are the real dangers.

I always looked at the ability to run from a lightning storm. I usually trailer to an area I'm going to fish if possible. It's cheaper and quicker in many cases.

I think you can do a little better than 1-2 miles with a 20hp.I used one for a lot of years and did better than 2 miles just paddling.

I understand your point and I have no problem with anyone who knows how to drive safely. I don't care if you get up some speed on a big open area. On the other hand we have a little lake up here just a few miles long,6-8 would be my guess if you don't count the very shallow feeder creeks. it's about 50-90 yards wide most places and very curvy and winding. There's guys running their 250 hp bass boats wide open around those curves all the time,like they think it's the Indy 500. There's just no sense in it when you could get to the same place at a safe speed just 3 minuets later.
