My greatest fear. I'm hoping for another 5 win wonder. Gus needs to go, but not before Jay Jacobs.

Can Stidham run? That is when Gus's offense has been the best.If the QB isn't a serious threat(to run) then the D will not respect the run-pass option plays. The guy will put up nice passing numbers but I don't know if he makes Auburn a contender or not.

All indications are this guy is the real deal. With that being said, Gus will find a way to screw it up.

None of us know but those "indications" should be a concern. Cam Newton had little "indication" he was going to be good, let alone arguably the best ever. Nick Marshall had little "indication" he would be an outstanding qb. Jeremy Johnson had all "indication" he would be great. Uh, no! This ain't HS or Baylor. But others have done it and succeeded. Time will tell.

One advantage Newton, Marshall, and Stidham had over Johnson is they had all been coached up before getting to Gus. Johnson was a product of Gus solely.

For the Stidham Kool aid drinkers, please remember that the Big 12 defenses are softer than most SEC gymnastics teams.

Yea, I said the same thing about Cam Newton going from JUCO to Auburn. I now just maintain a wait and see attitude after eating crow on Newton.

This 100000000%

Stidham comes from a pass happy offensive system. Gus has lived and died by the HUNH/RPO offense. Will he give the keys to the kingdom to first year OC Lindsey and let him run with it? If he attempts to make Stidham a RPO guy and run him, things could get ugly. Lot of unknowns.

We have way to many soon to be coaches in here. It's a wonder that with all of the open coaching slot each year that at least one of you hasn't been called up.

My Daddy was a big Auburn fan. I've listen to a bunch of games on the radio with him when I was a kid. Back then I remember AU being a hard nose team that made sure their best players were at defensive tackle, linebackers, right guard, left tackle and fullback. The quarterback was usually a slow white kid that wasn't at all flashy but was tougher than a Waffle House steak. Nowadays it's all about the next Heisman trophy winning quarterback and all the hype they get before they even take a snap against an solid SEC opponent.

Didn't Stidman have 70 yards on about 36 carries? He is not a runner, he will hit the ground before he takes a hit.

White will be the starter by week 5. Either injury or poor play will get Stidham

Not at all, My point was I'd much rather read opinions on football any day than read some of the crap guys are asking on the general forum. Turn over there and look at some of the crap being posted. Some of those guys need to have their Man Card revoked!

I'm Missouri on this team until I see what they produce on the field.

1). Unless Stidham can run circles around White, I don't see the upside. White is a very accurate passer and his record as a starter was good. Most people seem to forget that most of our losses came when someone else was starting at QB. Secondly, White was put into terrible situations at QB where it'd be hard for anyone to succeed. I don't know if that was Rhett, Gus, or both. We would trot in QB for two running plays and then insert White on 3rd and long when everyone in the stadium knew a pass play was coming. Defenses teed off on him. I think White would be the starter at more than 50% of other SEC schools.

2). I lost confidence in the offensive coaches. Again, I don't know if it was Rhett or Gus. The most frustrating part to me was that 2 years in a row they didn't seem to know who their best players were. It seemed obvious to me that White was the better QB 2 years ago but he started the year on the bench. Last year Pettway was clearly the best running back but he started the year on the bench. This makes me question all of our preparation. We're not running a Pee Wee league where every kid gets to play. A coach has to identify the best players and use them. We have been really bad at doing that.
